1. ENT clinic The doctor is older and stubborn, and they say he corrects things according to his own way of thinking. He does multiple surgeries in stages, not all at once. He has a lot of reconstruction experience. Since he plans to address the insufficient skin with a very small flap, the chance of failure is almost nonexistent, but because of scars and shape, it seems it will take up to a 3rd surgery and about 2 years to become a normal nose.. If I do cosmetic nose surgery after that too, I’m wondering if it will take 3-4 years. Still, I’m considering it because it would become perfect, but surgery is not guaranteed to go well just because the place is famous, so I’m conflicted.
2. Plastic surgery clinic. The doctor has aesthetic sense, and the shape is my style. I also like the surgical method. It’s not an extremely famous hospital, but it became known through promotion. My concern is that it seems the doctor has focused deeply on reconstruction for only about 2-3 years. For noses less severe than mine, the before-and-after results were good, and I did hear some bad stories too, but overall the reputation was that they were known for drawing lines well. They won’t know until they open the nose, but the method is to lower the glabella area and shift the extra skin toward the columella.. The frontal effect may look broad, but it could become a somewhat insufficient yet normal nose. This would improve compared with now within 1 year, and I expect it may also provide support, but if by any chance it goes wrong, I would have to go back to reconstruction and the time would be even more over, so I’m worried. .
My current nose condition is not ordinary contracture, but an extreme nose with a problem in the columella. I am caught between reconstruction and cosmetic surgery. In cases of columellar necrosis, during hospital consultations most said a flap was the answer, but when I went for consultations now, 2 years later, they said they do not recommend a flap. They say it would be too disappointing to go with reconstruction only, and also a bit insufficient to go with cosmetic surgery only, so since I don’t have the confidence to wait several more years, even if it is slightly insufficient, I want to have surgery with the hope of living with a more normal nose than now while waiting.
For nose surgery, I think communication between the patient and doctor has to be good, and the nose style the doctor creates also has to match, so I’m conflicted. Which choice would you make? ㅜ
