After the surgery and before the first stitch removal, I was so swollen that I looked like a monster.. I was scared to even look in the mirror. My face looked a bit like a sloth from Zootopia. In particular, I had conjunctival edema in both eyes, and one side was especially severe, so the asymmetry looked really bad too. The swelling got much better after the first stitch removal, and after the second removal I felt so much more comfortable. If you want a definite change, I think it would be good to get a consultation for outer/lower canthoplasty. That said, my eye area is still swollen and red, so although there is a change, it’s hard to say it looks pretty yet, and I think I’ll only know once the swelling goes down more and I try makeup.
The advantage is that it seems like a surgery where you can definitely see results. If you have a fierce-looking eye shape, the change is very noticeable. You can see at a glance that the eyes look much more open.
The downside is that before surgery, the left and right sides were already quite uneven, so I repeatedly asked them to lower the higher side, but they lowered the less raised side instead, so cosmetically the asymmetry doesn’t look improved at all, and it’s really bothering me. I thought maybe it was because of the conjunctival edema, but even after it disappeared, it still didn’t improve. The chief surgeon said they’d check the progress later, so I’m planning to wait.
