It’s now been about a month since my surgery, and to put it simply, I think this is the period when I feel the most at ease. At weeks 2–3, honestly, my lip shape had improved, but I was scared about pronunciation and opening my mouth, so I felt anxious, like, “Can it get even better?” But now that I’m at one month, I feel like, ah, it’s almost settling into place now.
I originally didn’t even plan to get mouth corner lift surgery, and I was the type who kept holding out with only fillers. But fillers only lasted for that moment, and after time passed, the corners would drop again, then I’d go back to the clinic and get them again, over and over endlessly.. My impression when expressionless stayed the same, so I kept getting stressed and eventually ended up getting surgery.
Especially when I was still, my mouth corners were turned down, so my face looked unnecessarily tired, and it really stressed me out that my upper lip looked like it was curling inward. During the consultation, they said that rather than only lifting the mouth corners, if I did artificial dermis together and slightly supported the outer side during surgery, the upper lip curling could improve as well, so I proceeded with the mouth corner + dermis combination. I said I absolutely didn’t want an overly slit-looking result, and during the consultation I told them I just wanted it done cleanly so my overall impression looked more refined.
Looking at it now at the 1-month mark, even when I’m not smiling, my mouth corners are naturally lifted, and since my mouth doesn’t look curled inward like before, my facial impression feels much more relaxed. It’s the same when taking photos, and I have almost nothing to worry about because of my mouth anymore, so it’s so nice not to feel stressed.. My upper lip has definitely changed too, and I think the difference is biggest when applying lip products. Before, even when I applied lip products, my mouth shape somehow looked ambiguous, but now the line looks good even when I apply them casually. There’s no artificial look at all, and what I’m most satisfied with is that I look like someone whose mouth corners were naturally lifted to begin with.
The scars were a bit noticeable at the one-month point, but now that I’m at two months, they’ve definitely faded a lot compared to the one-month point. If I look up close with a bare face, they’re not completely invisible, but even just applying lip balm or tint makes them not bothersome, and there’s no problem at all in daily life, and it feels like no one notices. Now I think my eyes are drawn more to the change than to the scars.
Before surgery, I worried a lot that my facial expressions might become awkward, but there’s no discomfort at all when smiling or talking, and there’s almost no tightness. I’m already satisfied just from not looking gloomy when expressionless after getting it done. People around me also often say my face looks better, so I feel quietly proud haha.
Honestly, the price wasn’t cheap, and I thought about it for a long time, but looking at it now at the two-month mark, I have no regrets at all. I think it’ll become even more natural as time passes, so I’m even more looking forward to months 3–6. I’m leaving this because I think it may be worth 참고 for people who are considering mouth corner lift surgery but are hesitating because they’re worried about naturalness.
