I went around to about 5 places and did it at Note. It was partly about price, but after watching Director Yoon’s interviews and case reviews on YouTube, I felt that if he explains and operates like that, I could trust him, so I finally chose this place. When I went for the consultation, they really handled things similarly to what I had seen on YouTube, so I felt reassured, and it was nice that I could book extra consultations whenever I wanted. I was worried because I’d seen some reviews saying he can be a bit blunt or doesn’t reduce the cheekbones enough, but he’s not the warm-fuzzy type exactly, though he answers questions well, and most of all, after the surgery he checked on my progress and reassured me, speaking to me with eyes full of warmth while looking at my scruffy self, and I felt I had made the right choice here. If I had done it somewhere cheaper, it definitely wouldn’t have been like this... A more expensive place might have been better, but it also would have been more burdensome... I’m satisfied that I chose this place! On the day of surgery, I woke up in the recovery room wearing a compression wrap and with a drain in place, and when I came to, I was so, so cold. My whole body was shaking, but I wasn’t allowed to sleep and had to get up and go to the ward myself. Sitting up made me dizzy, my legs had no strength, and I was shaking so badly that the nurse supported me. Waking up from anesthesia was the hardest part. They said I could drink water after going to the bathroom once, if my stomach was okay, but I kept feeling nauseated and queasy, so I only drank much, much later. They said if you drink when you’re nauseous and thirsty, you might vomit and get an infection, which could lead to a medical accident So I didn’t really drink water, just moistened my mouth a little, and they told me to eat New Care for dinner, but I didn’t because I heard it tastes bad and might make you vomit. I had been fasting since the night before, all day long, but since I was on IV fluids I wasn’t hungry. I kept using ice packs from when I was in the ward after surgery until evening, and once more before bed. The side that had been cut more didn’t hurt, but the less-cut side hurt a lot for me. With cheekbone surgery, depending on movement the pooled blood flows into the nose and mouth, and nosebleeds came more from that side too. I didn’t spit it out; I just swallowed it.The first day after surgery, I wasn’t very swollen and could talk and was lucid, but my face kept swelling and turned into a steamed bun. Because I was more swollen and didn’t talk much, my throat got hoarse. The nausea and queasiness went away, so I felt much better, and removing the drain hurt a bit. It was attached inside the cheek? between the gums? and it hurt when they removed it. When I moved, the pooled blood would run down out of my nose. The cheekbone and jaw pain was better than the day before, and for me the cheekbones hurt more than the jaw. The level of pain and the feeling are like having four impacted wisdom teeth pulled at once. On days 2-3, the bruising rose under my eyes, turned green up to my temples, bruises appeared around my eyes too, and the inside of my mouth swelled so much that it got ulcerated. The bleeding had stopped, but clear, sticky mucus came out of my nose from time to time, and because the swelling was at its maximum, it was hard to open my eyes. My lips were also absurdly swollen, my gums ached, and my face was so swollen, tight, and hot that it was miserable So I ate scoopable ice cream, but my mouth wouldn’t open, so I ate it with effort. Eating something cold made the throbbing inside my mouth much better. Since the inside of my mouth felt so hot and swollen and ached, I recommend letting something like Seolreim melt a bit and then squeezing it out to eat. I wipe my face with saline and apply moisturizer, but it still feels like dead skin is building up. On days 4-6, I started warm compresses and soft foods. Around my eyes the bruising looked like eyeliner, and now the incision inside my mouth hurt more than the cheekbones or jaw. After eating only liquids every day, having grated apple and soups was enough to make me feel somewhat full and alive. My eyes, especially my lips, were very swollen, but the lip swelling got better and I could open my eyes comfortably again. I think it was because of the cold compresses and pumpkin juice. I steamed pumpkin and blended it in a Hurom, and it was exactly like a liquid meal. I drank it to reduce swelling and as a meal substitute, and it was good. Steam old pumpkin, don’t cut it, and for swelling control drink the juice inside up to day 3; after that, remove the skin and squeeze or blend the rest to drink as a liquid meal. Because I drank a lot of pumpkin juice, the bruises also faded to yellow quickly. But starting on day 5, the area behind my ears hurt and felt like I had a tight headband on, and it really ached. On day 7, I went to the hospital, had the stitches removed, and all the facial tape was taken off. My face looks like I have a baby filter on because the inside of my mouth and cheeks are swollen. Even though I’m that swollen, my frontal jaw and cheekbones don’t stick out as much as before, which is amazing. Even when I wear a cap, before my cheekbones would stick out past the brim, but now they fit inside it. It was surprising that the mask fit evenly. Before, if I wore a large one, it fit horizontally but was too big vertically; now a medium fits perfectly. Once the swelling goes down, I think even medium will be too big. Even when I put on a sheet mask, there aren’t many curves, so I don’t need to stretch the sheet, and there are no overly folded or missing areas. Today I took a shower and washed my hair for the first time, and it felt so refreshing. Being able to wash my face with foam cleanser is something I’m so grateful for... When I touch my face, the cheek area and the places where the tape had been feel numb and have poor sensation. It feels tingly, like the anesthesia hasn’t worn off? My mouth can open about the width of one pinky joint now, and I can eat soft tofu in soybean paste soup. The bruising on my face has almost faded, with a slight yellow tint left, but the bruising around my eyes is still purple. On day 10, all the bruising was gone and the lip swelling was completely gone too. The swelling inside my mouth has also gone down a lot, and my mouth opens about one finger joint. The TMJ area feels like it’s protruding, and I can sleep on my side. I can brush my teeth, even if only with a baby toothbrush. The cheek area closer to my jaw is still quite swollen. My chin feels like the muscles or flesh are moving awkwardly because of the stitches inside. Two weeks in, the dead skin and breakouts that had built up from not being able to wash properly were all gone thanks to doing sheet masks morning and night every day. The swelling in my face is gradually going down, and the tenderness around my temples and forehead when touched is gone too. My facial muscles move much more than before, and moving them hurts less. I can chew food, but it keeps getting into the stitch area, and because I still can’t brush properly, I can’t eat properly either. My appetite has returned, but I can’t eat as much as I want, so I feel irritable and cranky. The swelling near my jaw has improved a lot, but the cheeks still have some swelling. My schedule didn’t match up, so I had the stitches removed after more than two weeks, but they said it’s better to remove them later anyway. The inside of my ear sometimes hurts.
