First* please note that 70% of my purpose was medical, so this may not be as dramatic a surgery review as other people’s!
1. Criteria for choosing the hospital My upper and lower eyelashes both curled inward and poked my eyeballs, so my top priority was definitely a hospital that could do both at the same time. Also, I was scared of proxy surgery and shadow surgery at large hospitals, so they were not even in my options. I thought the doctor’s experience was really important, so I deliberately looked for specialists with more than 10 years of experience. I had consultations at other places too, but this was the consultation I trusted the most. They examined my eyes in detail, firmly ruled out what could not be done, and only told me what was necessary. And I think a doctor’s skill is important, but their character is important too, you know? When I watched the interview videos from the hospital, I thought, how should I put it, that he seemed decent. There are many doctors who treat staff carelessly in the operating room, but during my surgery, he said to the nurse holding my eye, “You have the most important role here,” and I felt that he respected the staff. Skill matters, of course, but because he also has good character, I think that may be why patients keep seeking him out. Oh, and I saw that many people come through introductions and recommendations, so I trusted the place even more.
2. Surgical method I had fat removal, point incision (it was the only hospital that said partial incision was possible), and lower blepharoplasty. I think it took about 2 hours (originally they expected 2 hours 30 minutes).
3. Surgery review First of all, when you have local anesthesia, you feel everything... You feel the surgery happening. You can hear the doctor’s voice and everything... It hurt. Right after surgery, my eyes were very swollen and I struggled, and when I went for disinfection on the second day, I could see a little better at least... To reduce swelling, I slept sitting up, kept doing compresses, and took lots of walks. The hospital told me that because it was a partial incision, the swelling would mostly go down in about a month. And what was interesting was that I had a lot of flesh on my upper eyelids, so I couldn’t feel my eyeballs. I could only feel the eyelid flesh, but after fat removal, now I can feel my eyeballs. Roundly. It was fascinating.
4. Progress photos after surgery Before surgery > right after surgery > 3 photos 1 week after surgery > last photo 2 weeks after Next time I’ll bring photos from one month later.
5. Reactions around me My coworkers were all surprised because when I went back after Chuseok, I was less swollen than they expected. Everyone said it turned out natural. My younger siblings also saw me and said my eyes got bigger lol, and that I should have gotten double eyelid surgery sooner.
People who want a dramatic change may not relate to my post. But I solved the problem of my eyelashes poking my eyeballs, and as a bonus I got double eyelids, so I’m happy. After getting my eyes done, I wanted to get my nose done too... It seems like this hospital is good at rhinoplasty... If you’re thinking about rhinoplasty, try getting a consultation. Even for a conservative person like me, this hospital made me think about getting my nose done after my eyes. But I’m stopping here. I recommend this plastic surgery clinic.
