Hi everyone, this was my first surgery, and when I had the operation, I had it done using donated costal cartilage and silicone. At first, there was a lot of talk like “don’t use donated costal cartilage” and “the absorption rate is high,” so I wondered if it might be better not to use donated costal cartilage. But I wasn’t confident I could handle the scar from using autologous costal cartilage, and even after my appendectomy, the scar remained quite visible, so I didn’t want to leave any more scars on my abdomen. The clinic also said donated costal cartilage was possible, so I had surgery with donated costal cartilage. If you go for a consultation, when costal cartilage is recommended, it probably isn’t being recommended for no reason…
