Hello..^^ I had double-jaw surgery, cheekbone reduction, square jaw surgery, and genioplasty. In the post below, I didn't write in detail because I was asking about pain, but there are a lot of questions about double-jaw surgery.. My mouth protruded a little, but it wasn't bimaxillary protrusion; it was a prognathic jaw, so I had double-jaw surgery. Since I was already having double-jaw surgery, to become prettier, it would be good to do square jaw surgery too.. and I was told that if I wanted the effect of making my face look smaller, doing the cheekbones too would be effective, so I decided on double-jaw, cheekbone, and square jaw surgery. It was also cheaper to do them together than separately..^^; Double-jaw surgery is surgery that sets back a prognathic jaw. They say it creates the most beautiful line for the lips and chin line that descends from under the nose. I had been going around wanting nose surgery, but I was told that because my lower jaw stuck out, even if I did my nose, I wouldn't become that much prettier.. so I decided on double-jaw surgery.^^; With double-jaw surgery, the protruding jaw is pushed back, but because of my facial bone structure.. if they pushed it back, there was a high chance I would look like I had a retruded chin.. So I also got genioplasty, where they cut the lower part of the chin below and bring it forward.. so that the tip of the chin comes out just very slightly. So it turned from nose surgery into a very major surgery. ㅠ_ㅠ The first day of surgery.. I went to the hospital in the morning, got an IV.. surgery started at 9:30 a.m., then after surgery ended I slept for a bit, and by the time I was fully conscious, it was around 10 p.m. I heard the surgery took about 5 to 6 hours. Because it was a difficult and major surgery, they even inserted a urinary catheter so I wouldn't get up. On the first day, I only got IV fluids, and because of facial pain and stuffiness, I couldn't sleep well. If you have double-jaw surgery, for 2 weeks you can't speak and can't open your mouth. They completely changed the structure of the facial teeth and bones.. so you get something like a cast for the mouth, like a cast on an arm. They put an appliance on the teeth and put rubber bands on. They said it wouldn't be uncomfortable, but that's not true at all. It's extremely hard. Usually with square jaw surgery you can at least eat thin rice gruel, but after double-jaw surgery, you have to consume only liquids after surgery. For 2 weeks.. Soy milk, milk, juice, seaweed soup broth, beef bone broth, pumpkin water, etc.. You also have to crush your medicine and mix it into juice to drink it.^^; Even if it's just a little thick, it absolutely won't go down. Because I couldn't eat much, my family blended vegetables and fruit for me at home.. but if it's not completely liquid, it won't go down. For about 1 week after surgery, your lips don't move either, so you're pouring it in rather than drinking it.. this isn't drinking. >_< You can't use a straw either. Because of the appliance... What is more stressful than eating is not being able to talk. I'm only at home, but I can't answer the phone either..^^; Even when talking with family, I have to write things down.. And I have to breathe only through my nose, so I'm constantly worried my nose might get blocked. For 3 to 4 days after surgery, I also struggled because of breathing. If you have cheekbone surgery, pooled blood comes out through the nose, and if it clots, the nose gets blocked and you can't breathe.. Because the surgical area is large, the pain lasts a long time too. For about 5 days, even when I slept at night, I woke up every 2 hours. How much it hurt.....ㅠ_ㅠ I don't want to imagine it. Now that it's been a week, I'm okay.^^ And depending on the person, they check whether the lower teeth and upper teeth fit well, and if they don't fit well, some people need orthodontic treatment as necessary. They told me I don't need orthodontics. And I had said from before surgery that I absolutely would not do orthodontics..^^;; I only wrote all the bad parts. It's this uncomfortable, but... after about 1 month, you can have a pretty line. haha After 2 weeks, when the rubber bands and appliance are removed, you can eat porridge... and once the swelling goes down, the prognathic jaw that had stuck out until now will disappear..^^ I think it's too early to talk about satisfaction yet. The swelling is still tight... My face line changed from a Dooly face line to a pumpkin line. The lower part had been more bulging and swollen, but now it's round overall. But I lost even more weight, so at 168 cm I now weigh 51 kg. I suffered from pain for a week and lost 4 kg....ㅡㅡ;; As my face became a pumpkin line, I can see that the cheekbones and square jaw have disappeared. ^^ As for the double-jaw and genioplasty, I think I'll know once the swelling goes down a bit more. I'm scheduled to get nose surgery next week. Once the rubber bands and appliance in my mouth are removed... Because my goal was the nose..^^ I'll post another review once the swelling goes down a little more~~~ ^^//
