It had been about 20 years since my surgery. Silicone, septal cartilage, and ear cartilage were used, and although I didn’t have inflammation, I think contracture gradually developed over time. At first, I didn’t even realize it was contracture; I thought my skin had become thinner and the cartilage was showing through, so I figured I needed to have the silicone removed. With help from posts in this community, I started consultations with the three major removal clinics, but the more consultations I went to, the more frightening things I heard, so I ended up consulting at 11 places.
