My younger sibling had it done too, so we got a discount, and please keep in mind that this was 8 years ago. I don’t know if it’s still like this there now, but the doctors themselves had also gotten SMILE LASIK.
Originally, I had severe astigmatism and my vision was so bad that I needed LASEK, but the director said my sibling’s corneas were the thickest among the patients who came in that year. Then after checking my eyes, he said, “Wow, your older sister’s corneas are much thicker.” I must really have pig-thick corneas. Anyway, they said LASIK would be possible with corneas that thick, but I couldn’t wear contact lenses for 2 weeks, so after spending that period wearing only glasses, I had the surgery.
Honestly, since it wasn’t sleep anesthesia and I was having surgery with my eyes open, the fear was 100, but the pain was really close to 0.
And they said my vision could drop again if I didn’t take care of my eyes, so other than wearing blue-light-blocking glasses while working at the office, I haven’t done any special care, but I don’t feel like my vision has dropped much. I never felt glare, light halos, or dry eyes before, but these days I’ve been feeling my eyes getting a little dry. I thought maybe it was because my corneas are thick, but maybe not.
I agree with the saying that people who have had LASIK or LASEK recommend it, and only people who haven’t had it oppose it.
