I'm planning to have jaw and cheekbone surgery. I asked someone I know who is a doctor, and they said it's a major surgery so I would need a blood transfusion, and these days blood banks have a lot of blood from Southeast Asia. Because people in our country don't donate blood. When I hear it's Southeast Asian blood, I get worried for no reason. For those who had surgery, how did you handle transfusions? I'm type O, and I think it would be good to receive a designated donation, but they said family members' blood isn't allowed? If anyone has received a designated transfusion, please let me know.
