Stitches are usually removed on day 7, but because of a substitute holiday, I had them removed today, on day 8! The surgery I had was open rhinoplasty for nasal tip surgery, hump nose correction, bulbous nose correction, and columellar retraction correction, using autologous cartilage (ear cartilage). First, from the day the cotton packing was removed, I applied ointment 3 times a day with the sterile cotton swabs provided by the hospital.  The nurse taught me how to apply the medicine when the cotton packing was removed. I applied it every morning, afternoon, and evening without missing a day, and by days 5-6, maybe because the wound area was healing, it felt itchy. I also didn’t really have any pain or discomfort after the splint was removed. I could feel the swelling going down quickly every day whenever I looked in the mirror, and when the splint was first removed, the bruising seemed to spread more for about a day, but from the next day it started to fade. Only the area where the hump was removed still has purple bruising, but this part is also slowly fading.

Even to the naked eye, the wound on the left side was healing more slowly than the right, and when the stitches were removed, the left side hurt..!!!! It hurt enough that my left eye teared up a little..ㅠㅠㅠ And the right side just didn’t hurt. It only hurt once, enough for me to go “Ah!” and for the rest of the stitches, I could feel them being pulled out, but it didn’t hurt. The stitches behind my ear didn’t hurt at all, and I barely felt anything; if anything, removing the tape they had put on to keep water out hurt more. haha All the stitches were removed, but they said I need to keep applying the ointment. I also saw the director, and the director said my swelling was on the good side. There is still swelling at the nasal tip, but overall they said it looked fine.  They said the swelling is going down well and the wound is healing well, and that the bruising and swelling around the area where the hump on the nasal bridge was removed would gradually improve too. After a kind + straightforward consultation with the director, they said I just need to come back for a checkup at the one-month mark, but if I have any discomfort, I can call right away and come in! It’s day 8, but the swelling in my nose is going down well, and I love the shape, height, and nasal bridge line. I’m really satisfied!!!!
