I used silicone without problems for about 8 years, but around last year my skin got thinner and the silicone started showing through. So this time, while removing it, I’m planning to use costal cartilage for what I hope is my final surgery. If no problems occur, can autologous cartilage stay in place for life? I heard silicone has to be removed after 30 or 40 years even if no problems occur, but I’m not sure what autologous cartilage is like.
