Has anyone had autologous costal cartilage septal extension removed? I had closed L-silicone surgery in 2006, then because of inflammatory contracture, open surgery with autologous costal cartilage in 2007. I probably didn’t use autologous dermis for the septum. In 2008, I had surgery that was likely donated costal cartilage for the nasal bridge. That’s my current surgery history, and I think the nasal tip was only touched once. Right now, I’m considering total removal because the autologous costal cartilage is showing through at the nasal tip and the support strut is bent. Since I currently don’t have inflammatory contracture, most plastic surgery clinics did not recommend removal. But I’m trying to remove it because I’m worried this cartilage show-through and bending will get worse…

I developed inflammation 2 weeks after nose surgery, so I took antibiotics, and at week 4 I had the silicone removed. But there is still an inflammatory reaction, so I’m looking into complete removal ㅠㅠ The clinic says we should keep trying
