Thanks to the support from those who sent me private messages and comments, here comes Part 3. ^^ When I posted my online consultation, I asked 5 to 7 questions, numbered. For places that offered photo consultations, I uploaded the same photos. Replies started coming in one by one, and there were subtle differences. Question 1 was whether it would be open or closed, and most of them said open. I wanted closed, but if my nose was difficult, I thought I should listen to the doctor. Apgujeong ㅇ** - Ignored the numbered questions and just gave a very general explanation. The conclusion was, come to the clinic...? It felt perfunctory and as if they had not really paid attention to the specifics of my nose, so I decided there was no need for a consultation visit. Gangnam ㅇ** - The explanation was detailed, but I could not understand the reasoning that open surgery was necessary because, for the tip, it absolutely had to be open. They recommended a vernose-shaped nose. Sinchon ㄱ - Osteotomy is essential, closed surgery. Cost 400. -_-;; I decided to visit the remaining clinics too: Apgujeong ㅁ, Apgujeong ㅂ, and Gangnam ㅇ. Everyone answered in detail, and their view was that if the nasal width is not broad, osteotomy is not necessary. What especially gave Gangnam ㅇ a high score was that... just from the photos, they examined my nose very closely... "The nose appears long, and the tip is drooping and sagging, while the bridge is relatively narrow. However, the area between the eyebrows above the hump appears relatively high." They also answered in detail about the surgical method. In addition to those, I visited seven places in total, including four that I had not consulted with online. Everyone was, in their own way, good at what they did. The problem was finding the place that suited me. Then here comes the visit-consultation review. Apgujeong ㅁ - A young doctor of medicine. Comfortable and down-to-earth, and seems cautious. Closed approach, hump shaving without osteotomy, and ear cartilage. Said to use Gore-Tex. 300. Apgujeong ㅂ - The interior was impressive, and the director had the style of a Japanese architect. Very stylish. Slow, cautious, and trustworthy. Closed approach, no osteotomy, and buttock dermis. Tip with cartilage suturing. 300. A place that gives IPL once as a service for surgical patients. Gangnam ㅇ - Greeted me with coffee to wake me up before the consultation. A doctor of medicine. I liked this place very much. The surgery seemed simple. "Your skin is so thin. Oh dear..." Implants were absolutely out of the question, and since my nose was slender, osteotomy was not necessary either, so they would shave only 70 to 80 percent of the hump, build a support with the septum, and do cartilage suturing. Raise the tip so that it would not look like a hump visually..^^ 200 (gasp) I got the impression that they would never recommend an excessive surgery, that they pursued natural results, and that they were a person who walked the straight path. They answered so earnestly too...*.* Since there would be no osteotomy and I would not even need material cost, they must be setting the price conscientiously. If you look at the clinic homepage, even years later they provide aftercare and recalls, and only charge actual expenses.. They also do not show photos of other patients here. They really do keep to the straight path, lol. And then I went to other places too. They were places I had not consulted online, but wanted to visit because of their reputation or photo gallery. Apgujeong ㅇ - I had a virtual cosmetic surgery consultation there. Osteotomy. Costal cartilage... You all know, right? ^^ They said it was not osteotomy but a refining procedure, but it seemed like osteotomy would be needed anyway. They are preparing a paper, and said they would give me a special discount because I came after seeing them on this community. 350 I asked the coordinator about recall/revision... and perhaps they were displeased: "You should not say things like that about your face." It was as if I had done something wrong... This was my first surgery, so I was scared of taking out costal cartilage to use. If the hump were gone, my nose would actually be fairly pretty... -_-;; Very many patients, popular, and their skill is recognized, but... for correcting the hump, I did not want to pull out the last resort. Apgujeong ㅎ - This place also really tempted me. The director was a senior from my school and a doctor of medicine. Very perceptive and sophisticated-looking. At first, the coordinator showed the photos and gave a thorough briefing, which made the consultation easy. Closed approach, osteotomy, and I do not remember whether the tip was ear cartilage or septal cartilage. 400, but 370 in cash. They produced a slender and sharp result very well. A perfectionist who inspired trust. Apgujeong ㄹ - First, the coordinator's stern nose... -_-;; The photo gallery was fine, but after consulting with the director, for some reason it did not appeal to me ;;; Did they say to use Gore-Tex in a closed approach? They said to think about an open approach too... Phew, I felt like I no longer needed to go around any more clinics. There were several places I liked. I thought I would have to choose among them... but I made an important decision. No osteotomy. My nose is thin, and if it got even a little thinner, I felt it would lose its refined look. A slightly thicker bridge gives a more elegant appearance, right. Even if shaving the hump made it a little wider, I thought there would actually be no loss. And I decided not to use an implant under any circumstances. So two places remained. Gangnam ㅇ and, last, Apgujeong ㄱ. At this point, I would like to summarize the overall conclusions I personally reached. *** I worried about my own nose and went around in person with my own effort and judgment, arriving at these conclusions through my own perspective and taste. I do not like something that is pretty but obviously artificial and lacks individuality. I prefer something natural, even if it is a little less pretty. I like Jeon Do-yeon more than Kim Hee-sun. lol Since in my entire life I have seen only two completely natural-looking vernose-shaped noses, I wanted to avoid that style. There are also bone structures for which that kind of nose suits better. Even if you have a different opinion, please just take it that way. In the spirit of pluralism, as in: "That person thinks that way~" ***** 1. Among those who specialize in closed procedures, there seem to be quite a few who are not board-certified plastic surgeons. I am not the type who pursues perfect beauty, so I generally prefer closed procedures, but if you look carefully, there are indeed board-certified plastic surgeons who are good at closed procedures. If you are planning a closed procedure, please be sure to check whether the doctor is a board-certified plastic surgeon. (I got the sense that ENT specialists are a bit lacking in aesthetic sense.) 2. If the nose is crooked, it does not necessarily mean osteotomy is required. I was told my nose was crooked too... At one clinic (either Apgujeong ㅁ or Gangnam ㅇ), the director said: "People with high noses are all a little crooked. It cannot help but be so." But if the deviation is so slight that it does not bother you visually, I do not think there is any need to correct it with osteotomy. If the doctor is highly skilled and excellent in each aspect, they can properly center things during surgery so that it does not look crooked. If the crookedness does not cause one side to be blocked or any other side effects, and if you do not want the bridge to become narrower, it seems better to avoid osteotomy. 3. I think you need to know exactly what you want and decide accordingly to avoid regret. Have you ever said, "Just make it pretty for me..." at a hair salon and regretted it? Hair grows back, though.. ^^;;; 4. While going to consultations, I had no choice but to reach a rather materialistic conclusion. I could not ignore educational background. At first, I heard that cosmetic surgery is about hand skill, and that graduating from a prestigious university and studying well does not necessarily mean you have good hand skill... and I thought that made sense. But after actually visiting places.... among those who do not disclose on their homepage where they trained, or among those who are truly famous purely for skill... there were many who had tremendous pride in their technique and asserted that this method was the best. It felt as if they applied that valuable, unique technique to most patients... For patients like me who want the simplest possible surgery... -_-;;; Those who trained at major university hospitals and went on to serve as heads of plastic surgery there seemed, perhaps because of their experience, to be more flexible. Case by case... 5. This may be the most important thing in nose surgery... I think it may be wise to slightly lower your expectations, accepting the possibility of revision surgery. My friend also had one botched surgery and then had revision surgery, and here too there were many people who had undergone surgery three or four times. If you overreach from the start, complications can happen. Also, if you use every possible method to create a perfect nose.... when years pass and you want to adjust something again, the options available to you may be greatly reduced...;;;; That is my brief opinion.
