Today I went for a consultation at the hospital where I had surgery, and there was something that felt odd, so I’m asking hereㅜㅡ I went for a consultation because I had a septal extension and was thinking of removing it due to a foreign-body sensation. The doctor said it was a septal extension, but the surgical method was somehow different from what I knew. Isn’t septal extension originally done by inserting the trimmed septal cartilage between the existing septum area and the alar cartilage, overlapping and fixing it, then suturing it? The doctor said that in my case, he didn’t overlap the original septum and the trimmed septal cartilage, but attached them end-to-end. Is this kind of surgical method possible without any overlapping area? Are there cases where it’s done like this…
