As for me, first of all, putting everything aside, I had been making a double eyelid crease since elementary school ㅡㅡ I used to stick it on with glue, then later got lazy and just kept using force, and it looked roughly natural ㅠㅎㅎㅎ If I wasn’t looking downward or closing and opening my eyes, it would always stay as a double eyelid... or rather than saying that, I think it would be more accurate to say I kept folding the skin above my eye so it would look like a double eyelid -_- That would have been a better way to put it ㅎㅎㅎㅎ But then I guess I couldn’t keep doing that. Honestly, it wasn’t even weird and other people even told me, Oh, you have double eyelids, that’s nice. (I was extremely busted..._) When I told my friends I was getting surgery, they even said, You already have it, why do it? -_-; Well, whenever I met people I was always keeping my eyes tense, so they probably thought that, but at home I just went around without keeping them folded, and when I woke up in the morning after sleeping, I was completely back to being East Asian, so it felt like, what is this, some kind of double life? It was making life not worth living (?) so I just went ahead and did it this time lol Anyway, I got consultations at three places before deciding to go ahead, and the really funny thing is at all three places I went, they thought I already had a double eyelid, so they asked, “Do you want to redo the one you already have?” ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ I don’t have one..? I don’t have one.. I made it I don’t have one..????ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I made it....ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Wow, should I become a doctor too? ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ That’s what I was thinkingㅋㅋ That means I made it look so natural that even doctors couldn’t tell ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Then I told the doctor, I made it myself lol and he was like, Wow, you made it really well and kept it up?ㅋㅋ That’s where I chose and had the surgery ㅎㅎ It was in Apgujeong~ When I went for the surgery, there were about 5 people there, and if you roughly count 1 million won per person, that’s already 5 million ㅡㅡ I kind of understood why people want to become doctors ㅎㅎ.... They came in, applied anesthetic cream on the upper eyelids right away, and said to take photos I thought it was an invasion of portrait rights because they were going to take a photo of my eyes and later show it to other people as a sample, but I was too much of a timid girl to say, I don’t want that! so I couldn’t and just stayed quiet..... Then while waiting, more and more people kept coming in so I was embarrassed ㅜㅡㅜ Honestly, for me, more than the surgery being scary or painful, just the thought of lying there with my hair all slicked back in front of the doctor and nurses, dazed, was so embarrassing ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ My mom and the nurse thought I was acting scared because I was nervous ㅎㅎ Anyway, I finally lay down in the operating room and that light above the operating table you only see in medical dramas... when it was actually shining straight into my eyes, it was really blinding I’m glad I kept my eyes closed; if I had opened them when they turned that on, seeing as how bright it was, it wouldn’t have been strange even if I’d gone blind (The light was really annoying even during surgery.. honestly, there wasn’t any pain at all...ㅋㅋ) Then I kept lying there with my eyes closed, and the nurse came to say she was going to give me the anesthesia shot. Before the surgery, there were lots of comments on this community saying the anesthesia shot hurts the most, and I was more curious about how much it would hurt, so I wanted to get it quickly! (Is that masochistic..?ㅋㅋㅋ) Since I had a partial incision for the epicanthoplasty, I think I got a total of 6 shots? Three on each side? Just from reading the reviews here on this community, there were lots of comments like It feels like your eyeball is popping out!ㅜㅜ Honestly, that’s way over the top. Just imagine an injection in the butt being cushioned a lot because there’s a lot of fat, and then one in the eye feels a little more shocking than that That’s about it. (That exact expression) Rather than painful, it really felt like something liquid was being pushed deep into the flesh of my eyelids, like a piston Even writing that now, I’m not sure what I’m saying.. Try it yourselfㅋㅋ And the nurse kept touching my eyes with gauze and pressing on them. At that point I thought all nurses did everything, so maybe the nurse was even doing the surgery? ㅡㅡ was this some shady clinic..!!? I was even surprised Anyway, after a bit, the doctors came in, defined the line with a mirror, and started. Honestly, even before they started, just thinking about being stitched with a needle made me think of that scene in a horror movie where someone sews eyes shut (I’ll never forget that sound...ㅠ bleh) Only then did I get a little scared, but they kept dragging it out, so later I got bored and thought I just want them to finish quickly so I can sleep lol It was probably because of the anesthesia shot lol Then, after that, the thing I’d only heard about in reviews here, the smell of burning squid They burned along the line on the skin, and a little later I could tell they were sewing. It was really the moment I was amazed by the power of hearing, even with the skin anesthetized and my eyes closed. All my nerves were focused on hearing, so I’d react even to the sound of an ant..ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ But seriously, when they were doing that stitching? thing, they put thread into my eye and pulled it tight, ping-ping! taut like crazy It felt like my skin might tear ㅠㅡㅜ Not that it hurt, it was just like that ㅋㅋㅋ While they were doing that, the doctor suddenly said, “What is epicanthoplasty in English?” And nobody answered. (There were lots of nurses next to him..) So I thought, Huh, is he asking me? ㅡㅡ...?;;;;; So I said, “I don’t know ㅡㅡ...” Then they all burst out laughing, and he said, Oh, not the patient hahaㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ Turns out there was a trainee nurse next to them or something, some intern type ㅋ He was asking that nurse, but since she didn’t know and couldn’t answer, I thought he was asking me ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ Anyway, maybe I’m just really good at enduring pain, or maybe it really didn’t hurt much. The nurses were like, Wow, you’re handling this well. The anesthesia shot is usually the worst part. ㅎㅎㅎㅎ Finally, they roughly finished the stitching, and from then on they kept turning the lights off and on, saying open your eyes, close your eyes, probably at least 50 times. At first I did it diligently, but since my eyes were already numb from the anesthesia, I ran out of strength and it stopped working well, so later it got annoying ㅜㅡㅜ The light was incredibly blinding too. Anyway, I think it took a little under an hour total. It really felt like I stayed calm during the surgery ㅎㅎㅎㅎㅎ On the operating table, more than being scared or worried, I was hungry (if you’re getting it done, make sure to eat a solid meal beforehand.) and bored (I should’ve brought an MP3 player.) ㅋㅋ And honestly, after surgery, the aftercare is more terrifying than the procedure itself. You have to keep it covered, can’t wash, have to keep your eyes open wide, and you’re not supposed to lie down to sleep either. What is thisㅡㅡ..; Anyway, I hope it turns out pretty hoho I’ll stop here~
