Today is day 4 for me. I had surgery on the 1st and came home yesterday. Normally you only stay hospitalized for one day, but I was doing it secretly from my family, so I stayed in the hospital for two days and came home yesterday. Thankfully my mom understood, haha. I’m grateful and sorry. But honestly, on day 2 my face swelled so much, one eye was so swollen it closed completely, and my lips looked awful. But after reading posts, it seems I’m not the only one, so that’s a relief^^ After joining this community, I read a lot of posts and got help too, but I think this is my first time posting. I don’t know whether it will help everyone or not, but I’m writing in hopes that it does, and I have a lot of questions too. The hospital told me to sleep sitting up if possible, even when sleeping, but I really couldn’t sleep like that. So I just stacked two pillows and slept. Is that okay? And I also think it would be good to order pumpkin juice and drink it now. Seeing everyone’s posts saying they reduced swelling a lot by drinking pumpkin juice. How many should I drink? And do you drink it after meals? Or just drink it whenever? Anyway, before surgery I read a lot of posts here, and because I wanted it so badly, I got a consultation and made a reservation. I really think choosing the hospital is the most important thing. I went to about 5 places, and 4 of them told me not to do it and that I could just live as I was ㅜ.ㅜ At one place they said something ridiculous about my mouth protruding, and then when I looked, it did kind of seem like my mouth stuck out too. But I really think you should only get consultations at a few places. Going to too many doesn’t seem good. When you hear this and that, it gets confusing and just makes choosing a hospital harder. I worried so much and even thought about not doing it, but I felt like I had to do what I’d decided or I really wouldn’t be able to do it, so I got a consultation right away, quit my job, and made the reservation. I hid it from my family too. I was so scared and nervous.. But on the actual surgery day, I felt calm. After waking up, my body hurt for about a day, but on day 2 I watched TV at the hospital and felt okay, then at night it started hurting again. My face swelled like a monster too. But the nurses were so kind, my friend stayed beside me and took care of me, and when I came home I felt like I was being such an undutiful daughter to my mom, but she understood, so I feel at ease. Everyone, please choose your hospital carefully too, and please leave helpful comments on how I should manage recovery. Also, from when is it okay to shower?
