It’s been a month now. I wanted to post earlier, but I only got writing permission just now -ㅅ-; I kept meaning to lose weight and then get it done, but kept putting it off, and I thought if I kept delaying like this, I might waste time and end up never doing either, so I set a date as soon as I had the consultation and waited. The hospital was so close that I could call it a 'neighborhood clinic'; I didn’t really have much money, and I didn’t want to travel far to hospitals, so I had it done there. I have a lot of fat, so when I was consulting, I asked whether I should lose weight before surgery or whether it would be okay to just do it as is, and they said it wouldn’t matter much, and that if I lost weight the double eyelid line would become bigger. My eyes had been stuck with tape + glue for 2 years, so they had sagged a lot, my skin was thick, and I had a lot of fat, so I decided on full incision. My intercanthal distance was wide, so I decided on an inner canthus correction too. I kept asking them to please make sure it wouldn’t make my impression look harsh. I also had mild ptosis in my left eye, so I decided to correct that as well. After the consultation, the estimate came out well within the money I had, and I wanted something natural, and the doctor was also famous for a natural style, so it felt like our tastes matched?; anyway, until the day of surgery I was excited like a child before a field trip. On the day of surgery, I went there nervous, had a brief consultation again with the doctor, and my friend, who was there with me, went into the operating room first while I waited watching TV. For my friend, they said they would make it so it wouldn’t be very visible, like an inner double eyelid, but to me they asked, 'How many millimeters do you want?' and I was flustered; I just said to please make the one that would suit me best since the doctor had done this a lot. Later on, I kept thinking, why did they ask me that? and you know, the bad thoughts started? Like, if my eyes look odd later, maybe they’ll say it’s because I gained weight and that I chose the line height myself, so they won’t be responsible~? I even thought that far -ㅅ-;; While I was hearing my friend finish surgery in the recovery room, I heard the doctor say, 'Get the next surgery ready quickly,' and I thought, right, they must be busy because there are so many patients. What if they did my surgery too fast and it turned out badly? More bad thoughts haha As my friend came out and was shouting about how much it hurt, I got a little nervous and climbed onto the operating table. Before the doctor came in, I looked around the operating room and saw that they were filming the whole surgery scene with cameras. Seeing that, I felt somewhat relieved~ The nurses disinfected my face and were getting me ready, but my nose itched and I almost touched it without thinking, and the nurses screamed and went, ugh; Hearing that, I got scared haha; I got scolded -ㅅ-; and they disinfected me again. I was wearing pants, and they lifted the clothing on my right leg to check my heartbeat? It seemed like something like that. I couldn’t see clearly, but they placed my sturdy right foot on cold, flat metal and proceeded with the surgery. The doctor came in.. The anesthesia injection hurt, but two nurses held my hands from both sides and I clenched my teeth and endured it. I think the anesthesia shots were at about 30-minute intervals, and they gave me another one in the middle, which was tiring even just to think about getting another anesthesia shot haha I heard the sound of cutting flesh, the feeling of stitching, the smell of burning fat was strong, and there was also some scraping sensation.. The smell of burning fat was exactly like a super disgusting dirty smell; Kind of like burnt squid smell too? Other than the anesthesia injections, I didn’t have any pain during the surgery, but still, when the sensation got intense, I deliberately made a little 'ah~' sound too so they would know I was tense haha The doctor explained things while proceeding, like 'Now we’re going into this surgery.' 'We’re removing fat.' 'We’re starting the right eye.' and so on. (using polite speech) While doing it, they said to me, 'There’s quite a bit of bleeding,' and I felt sorry. I had heard that if you bleed a lot, the bruising and swelling are worse.. When they said 'The surgery is over,' they helped me sit up and I said thank you for your hard work. When I stood up, there was so much moisture in my eyes that I asked, 'Is all this dampness in my eyes blood right now?' and they said it was tears, tears everywhere;; They showed me a mirror and I was shocked~ The swelling was no joke. I could only laugh ㅠㅠ Still, the line looked good, so I said, 'The line seems good,' and the doctor said, 'The surgery went well,' and disappeared haha; The nurses told me what I had to do after surgery. The hospital gave me an eye ice pack in a bag. They had already given me the prescription before surgery. It seemed like all eyelid surgery patients get the same instructions. The prescribed medicine wasn’t covered by insurance, so I paid almost 20,000 won. They also give you a printed A4 sheet with the prescription and what to do before removing the stitches after surgery, and what to do after removing them. Oh, of course, before surgery you sign the consent form. I tried to read it slowly, but as soon as I signed, they took it away; From what I could tell, they said the two eyes could end up looking uneven or something like that, but I couldn’t read it in detail, so I’m not sure. Because I kept bleeding, I had bloody tears ㅜㅜ They told me not to take naps, not to sleep too late at night, and to keep my eyes open while watching TV, but once the anesthesia wore off I got really irritated. I had once had wisdom teeth surgery at a general hospital before, and it felt similar to when the anesthesia wore off then. Back then it hurt so much I scratched the wall with my fingernails;; My menstrual cramps are extremely severe, and this pain felt a little worse than menstrual cramps? I got sleepy because I was exhausted; I kept dozing off while doing cold compresses, and when I woke up my eyes were even more swollen, sigh.. My family freaked out when they saw me ㅠㅠ They teased me and called me a monster. The next day I went to the hospital, got disinfected, 4 days later I had the double eyelid stitches removed, and 2 days after that the inner canthus stitches removed, and after that I started hot compresses. The swelling has gone down a lot compared to the first day, but it still feels 부담스러워 ㅠㅠ They say the line came out well and that it’ll be pretty once the swelling goes down, and my family tells me that too, but the swelling is still really severe. 3 weeks after surgery I went back to the hospital and even got a swelling-reducing injection. Maybe because the injection fee was included in the surgery fee, they just... I went there unprepared, but they took me straight to the injection room and gave me a swelling-reducing shot similar to an anesthetic injection in the eye, and I was really exhausted, my legs even lost strength ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ They told me to come back again in 2 weeks. I got the swelling injection too, but the swelling is still there, sigh~ I guess it’s because I naturally swell easily, I even have some extra weight, I’m not exactly great at managing it, and the surgery method probably made it worse. I’m waiting and thinking time will heal it. I like the line too, but what I like best is the ptosis correction. Before, even when I opened my eyes, the pupils were half covered, and even if I used tape, only the left side would loosen, but now the feeling of opening my eyes is completely different! I still have a lot of swelling and it’s unfamiliar, so there are many uncomfortable things and it’s hard. I was frustrated too haha; My family all have natural double eyelids and live without worrying, but I’m the only one who looks bad, so why did I have to go through even this?.. I thought things like that.. Still, since I already spent a lot of money on it, I should take good care of it and wait until it becomes fully my own eyes! I hope everyone who has surgery planned, and everyone like me who swells up badly, has good results too
