I went doing double-eyelid scouting. -Sinsa ㄴㅅㅎ I thought it looked natural from reviews, so I went for consultations. With the manager (about 10 min) and surgeon (about 15 min), the total incl. waiting was almost 1 hour. They recommended natural adhesion + eye-contour correction + front-canthal surgery, and I remember the surgeon even coming in with surgical scrubs on.
I have sent several posts and now I think it will be done on the first surgery day. I was too cautious and maybe I’m overthinking.
Since I had this feeling, I went to another hospital.
-Apgujeong ㄱㄹ? I decided to go after seeing some reviews that looked natural. Consultation: manager (10 min) + surgeon (15 min) It ended up taking less than 1 hour total. They suggested fat removal + front-canthal correction and said no need for eye-contour correction.
The question was, should I do fat removal?
The surgeon said they would remove it if needed, but if I was worried about hollowing and wanted correction, they could do it. So they said there are two options: do it or do not.
The surgeon said they had done over 1,300 cases and asked where I was bothered. He said that if you want to fix the lateral corner angle, he’d do front-canthal correction and a bit of fat correction.
I told him I only wanted double lids, and if possible, no fat removal.
He said: if they’re worried about hollow eyes after surgery, they can remove a bit of fat. After talking it over, I was convinced to do minimal fat correction.
He also said this is a good case for autologous costal cartilage implantation for support.
I asked the surgeon, “I heard that if too much fat is removed, it can look more hollow. If that happens, can you fill it with injection?” He said they can’t do filler immediately in the first few months.
The surgeon said that only if there is visible asymmetry or under-correction you can do a touch-up later, but he recommended not doing secondary canthoplasty at all; that was the key.
He said the first thing is to make the double line natural and then decide whether to add correction. I feel like this doctor gave the clearest explanation.
He also said because my eyelid fold wasn’t very clear and there’s less skin at the inner corner, correction might be a little difficult, but with proper technique he could do it.
I got a weird feel that this doctor might not want too much extra correction, and that I could trust him.
For the first time, I also got the impression the diagnosis was sincere.
The first hospital had advised both double lid and canthal surgery. If I had done both, I think I’d now have concerns about overcorrection from too much adjustment.
Here, the surgeon said the first step is to do only the double eyelid, and if needed, revise later.
He said they are strict with operation style and avoid unnecessary procedures.
He said he would decide carefully after surgery; if anything is incomplete or if I still need correction, we can do a secondary at about 4~6 months.
I got two impressions: one is that they gave me thorough explanations without rushing; the other is that they made me feel comfortable.
Because I’m worried more about the mucous membrane eversion and not just eye shape correction, they said they can treat the mucosal eversion at surgery with a small canthoplasty if needed.
He said I definitely did not need to be scared now and that if I’m unsure, it’s okay to wait.
The part I was most worried about: left eye looked slightly higher than right. They said this would be corrected if needed during surgery.
Here they suggested an additional line set and said both would be done together if required.
There will be no forced overcorrection. They said a lot of clinics talk about it, but they only do what is necessary.
This is likely a high-stress case.
Because they said there are different options, I think it was good.
For secondary canthoplasty, the surgeon said he only does it when truly necessary and not as a default option.
My concern before was asymmetry of the lid line. They said that this can be fixed.
I ended up choosing this clinic because they said, “There’s no need to force it; do the basics first.”
The most important thing for me was that they didn’t push me into secondary canthoplasty.
There was a lot I was confused about; this trip helped settle me.
I want my eye shape corrected naturally, and maybe avoid too much change.
Maybe this is why they call it a natural correction approach.
I’m likely to do this now.
I’m waiting, but they said secondary canthoplasty would be considered after swelling calms down.
The clinic said, "As long as it’s within a natural range, we do not do aggressive changes."
This is only from the two clinics I checked.
