This is not to criticize a specific hospital or reveal its name; I want to post objectively about what I experienced. (I'm scared of deletion or demotion; haha) I had revision medial epicanthoplasty. My first surgery was around five years ago, when I knew nothing and had medial epicanthoplasty at a plastic surgery clinic outside Seoul. Back then, the technique left a lot of scarring, you know. Long scars along the inner corners of the eyes.. But in my case, the scars were concentrated under the inner corners of my eyes, on the aegyo-sal side. Based on the inner corner of the eye, there were no scars on the upper side where the double eyelid is, and they were severe only below it. You know that unattractive shape where the Mongolian fold opening points downward instead of being horizontal? Mine was like that.ㅠㅠ More than anything else, I realized that because the inner eye area is right in the center of the face, it controls so much of the first impression. I also need to get a job now, but the scarred area couldn't be covered with makeup.. The skin texture had changed and become a bit smooth compared with other areas.. Even if I plastered on concealer, after blinking a few times it all settled into the creases and became even more noticeable..-_- So while I was looking into revision surgery, I learned about magic medial epicanthoplasty.. I gathered plenty of information in my own way and went for a consultation about revision surgery. To a hospital famous for magic medial epicanthoplasty. The doctor said, "It is possible to reduce the scars while changing the shape horizontally." Also, my eyes had been opened asymmetrically on both sides, so one side was a bit longer and the other a bit shorter. We decided to correct that too. Because it was revision surgery, I paid a surgery fee much higher than the usual price and had the operation. I had it last December.. and now more than a year has passed. In conclusion, for the first 2 to 3 months, my eyes looked more open than before.. and they seemed to look horizontal too. Even right after surgery, the asymmetry was still noticeable, but the doctor said it might look that way because of swelling, and if they were still uneven after 6 months, he would correct them! But from the beginning, the scar on my right eye was very noticeable. The incision line for magic medial epicanthoplasty follows the eye mucous membrane, in other words it is almost aligned with the contour of the eye, so the key point of the procedure is that it does not leave a scar. But on one of my eyes, the position of the incision line was clearly and widely outside the eye line, so for the past year I had to walk around with a red mark in a < shape in front of my inner eye corner. If this is the result, what is "magic" about magic medial epicanthoplasty! But as time passed, even the effect that had seemed to be there disappeared.. back to the same shape as before revision surgery. The effect of my eyes looking more open disappeared, and the horizontal shape also went back to a talon-like shape.. Even now, more than a year later, the asymmetry still has not improved. On top of that, I developed a scar above the eye that wasn't there before. Was it a bonus gift? ㅋㅋㅋ So I went back to the hospital last summer. Then they said revision surgery needs to be observed for at least a year and told me to come back after a year. So I went back again this December. Then.. They said that no matter how they operate, it would return after 2 to 3 months, speaking as if they couldn't do revision surgery. So I asked, "Is the reason you can't do revision surgery because there isn't enough extra skin, or is it because of my original constitution or skin quality?" Then they said my original constitution and skin quality make surgery impossible. Wow, damn.. Then shouldn't they not have operated in the first place? After surgery had no effect, only then they blame my constitution. The consultant just repeated the same thing over and over like a parrot.. "It's not that we don't want to do the surgery for you... blah blah.." No matter how indirectly they say it, the conclusion is that they don't want to do the surgery.-_- Then give me a refund. Anyway, I firmly expressed my opinion: "Forget the effect or anything else, right now I absolutely must at least correct the asymmetry. Please adjust only the shorter eye to match the other side." Then they told me to come back after Lunar New Year. If they say no again this time, I'm going to demand a refund. Money spent, time spent, scars created.. Two million won for one medial epicanthoplasty is not pocket change. ㅠㅠ I guess no one else has gone through this kind of situation? ; I hope everyone else here has pretty, successful surgery.
