I had osteotomy surgery for a short chin in August 2005. My face was a bit round and youthful-looking; I didn’t actually have a short chin. I just had the surgery because I wanted a slightly slimmer, more refined look, but short-chin surgery really isn’t easy. After the first surgery, my chin felt tight and strange, like someone was gripping it firmly, so I had revision surgery in February 2006. They said they didn’t touch the shape or anything at that time and just removed scar tissue. It was a surgery I decided to undergo under general anesthesia again, thinking it would get better, but it didn’t improve much. Now I think I should have thought carefully then and asked them to shorten the length a bit too. I thought it was natural for my face to feel longer, but when I see people whose surgery went well, I often think their face doesn’t look longer, but just that the facial contour looks more refined. Even after that, my face looked so strange - when I close my mouth, it gets all wrinkly like a peach pit or walnut shell - I had heard that short-chin surgery could get rid of this symptom, but in my case it got worse. Also, my lower chin moves separately to the point that I can tell which part of the chin was cut. In other words, when I look in the mirror, I can tell the cut area. I didn’t notice it before, but it’s like when silicone shows through in people who had nose surgery. When I smile, that phenomenon decreases, so I keep walking around smiling ㅜ.ㅜ After that, I went to the hospital, and they put filler in. In the chin surgical area. At first, I thought it was good that they were putting in filler for free. I thought it would improve after getting it once or twice. But after filler, for about a week my chin gets too long and my face is swollen, and I kept thinking it was fine because it would all get better, but this also goes back over time. Who has the time to keep getting filler for the rest of their life? Also, since I’m studying for an exam and lost weight, my face looks even longer, and the feeling that my chin is moving separately has become stronger. I’m so upset that I’m going to the hospital today. When I called, it seemed like they thought I was coming in to get filler again. I don’t know if they had no intention of letting me meet the doctor anyway, but my head hurts. I’m thinking of asking them to do revision surgery, but is this possible? I had the surgery after hearing that the part of the short chin that was cut could be put back in, so I’m going to ask today whether that’s possible. But my friend says even if revision surgery is possible, she doubts whether that hospital is good at it and is worried. Sob sob Anyway, I’ll leave another post after I go. Short-chin surgery seems to be becoming popular these days, but the surgery is not easy, so think it over and decide carefully.
