Review of Transaxillary Revision Surgery for Contracture + Rupture (Same Day to Week 6)

On 2025.9.9, I had revision surgery for contracture and rupture through the transaxillary approach at Sway Plastic Surgery. In 2015, I had surgery at another hospital with Allergan 225cc implants, but over time, a rupture developed on the right side and contracture on the left, so I eventually decided to have revision surgery. During my first surgery, the pain was so severe and recovery took so long that I really never wanted to do it again, but after being diagnosed with a rupture, I couldn’t put it off any longer. So I searched this community and many other reviews extensively, and carefully compared hospitals that could perform transaxillary revision surgery. Sway Plastic Surgery is well known in Korea for transaxillary revision surgery and had good reviews, so I went for a consultation in May. The consultant warmly welcomed me because I had come from far away and gave me a detailed consultation, so I had a good first impression. The director showed and explained the condition of my existing implants, scars, and capsule one by one with ultrasound, and even organized the operating room sterilization system and revision surgery process into a PPT presentation, which really made me trust him. When I said I wanted to increase the size, he personally helped me with fitting, and throughout the consultation he was kind and I could feel his sincerity. After comparing several hospitals, I ultimately decided on Sway. On the day of surgery, I went to the hospital nervous after fasting from the day before, but everyone from the front desk staff to the consultant and the operating room team treated me warmly, so I felt much more at ease. The surgery took about 4 and a half hours, and since capsule removal was performed as well, I had to wear drains, but the pain was much less than during my first surgery. However, the aftereffects of general anesthesia were a bit difficult. Still, the director personally came to my hospital room twice after surgery to check my progress, and that was truly touching. When he said, “This is one of the best surgeries, among only a handful,” I felt completely relieved. For one week after surgery, I sent the drain output amount to the consultant every day, and she sincerely worried about my condition day by day and replied quickly and carefully. The director personally removed the drains and carefully checked the sutures and stitches as well, which made me trust them even more. When I asked, “What should I be careful about to prevent side effects?” he said, “Side effects that occur are the doctor’s responsibility, not the patient’s,” and I was really moved. By week 2, almost all the swelling had gone down and the shape was getting prettier. The director said, “When sleeping, it seems okay to loosen your underwear and wear only the upper band,” but just in case, I continued to be careful. At week 5, I visited during the Chuseok holiday period, and since my bra was loose, they helped me with fitting again and explained in detail how to wear it. Since it was revision surgery, I’m scheduled to switch to a wireless sports bra in another month. I’m currently at week 6, and although some pain remains on both sides, it is gradually decreasing, and the tightness in my armpits and stiffness in my shoulders are also slightly improving. For now, I’m still sleeping with my upper body elevated about 10–20 degrees and managing it while wearing a tightly fitted bra. I’m originally the type who recovers slowly and is sensitive, so the aftereffects of general anesthesia were the hardest part. For about a month, I had cold-like body aches, gastritis, and dermatitis all at once, but now I’m almost recovered. Now there is no swelling, and the shape is becoming more and more natural, so I feel proud every time I look in the mirror. Every time I go for follow-up visits, the consultant, nurses, and director all sincerely take care of me, always consider the fact that I come from far away, and the director encourages me by saying, “You’re doing well,” so I’m truly grateful. Having revision surgery at Sway was the best choice of my life, and even if I could turn back time, I would do it here again.
