I've had several eye surgeries because of my small, narrow eyes, but no one ever told me there was no room anywhere to widen the raised outer corners of my eyes. I searched online and listened to people around me, and after hearing that there really are places that can open them up, I went for a consultation with the mindset of at least getting a consultation, and when I heard it was possible, I saw hope. I'm not the type to go to a lot of in-person consultations, so I searched for several days, narrowed it down to two places, and visited them, but if I was going to do it, I wanted to do it somewhere that would definitely open them up. The consultant who spoke with me talked a bit fast and pronounced a lot of English words with a strong accent, so I was a little flustered, but she felt humane. The director had a very fatherly impression and explained in detail how the procedure would be done, telling me not to be scared. The front desk didn't feel particularly friendly and felt AI-like (as someone who works at a hospital too, I'd say the service wasn't great). I went into the operating room and lay down, and I could hear all the operating room nurses chatting. At first, they gave me an injection without telling me what it was, so I only found out because I asked. After a little while, the director came in and reassured me, saying he was just going to do the design first and not to be scared. Then after confirming I was sedated, he said the surgery would begin, and I think I fell asleep right away. In the operating room, there were only three people total: the director, one assistant, and me, and the surgery proceeded without any conversation. They started on the left side first, and since it was done with brief sedation and local anesthesia, I was a bit scared.. I hadn't slept at all the day before, so one side was done while I was half-asleep, but for the other side I was fully awake and could feel the thread moving and the needle going in, and I could hear all the scraping and cauterizing sounds. When I said it hurt midway through, they gave me more anesthetic injections. I think the surgery itself took about an hour and a half? And while I was half-asleep, one side still hurt a bit under the eye even after the surgery was over. It got better after a day, though,, It's only day 2 now, but on the first day I was a bit scared because I had conjunctival edema, swelling, and bloody tears, which I thought might not happen to me. And today I'm even more swollen, so I'm taking swelling medication and pumpkin juice, trying to move around by cleaning the house as much as possible, doing cold compresses whenever I can, and using artificial tears to get through it.
