I’m on day 2 after ear filler,,, There don’t seem to be many ear filler reviews, so I wanted to share! 0) Research I just did online research! I looked at reviews here and there and checked out some plastic surgery apps too. In the past, I used to go around for consultations diligently, but these days it feels like a hassle... So I just did online research -> firmly chose one place -> got the procedure right away. But honestly, I had also thought about only getting a consultation and leaving (I’m a scaredy-cat, so right up until the procedure I was looking up things like ear filler necrosis and trembling...), but because of the manager’s incredible way with words, before I knew it, it became a “Please insert your card~^^” situation. If you only want a consultation, I think you need to say from the start that you’re only getting a consultation. 1) Clinic I know there are a few places famous for ear filler, but it wasn’t one of those! I didn’t go to places that charge around 1 million won; I went somewhere a bit cheaper. It’s a fairly well-known place on one of the plastic surgery apps! (But later I found out a lot of the recommendation comments were viral marketing... I should have looked more carefully.) 2) Amount I got a total of 6 cc injected into both ears combined! Later, when I looked at other ear filler reviews, a lot of people seemed to get 1-2 cc per ear. At the place I went to, the manager explained that they start at a minimum of 6 cc / and can inject up to 8 cc too. (Only the back part of the ear! They said many people also get additional filler separately in the auricle.) My ears are very small, so they only mentioned 6 cc, and I said I didn’t want to do the auricle separately, so I didn’t. *I realized later that even this was a really large amount 3) Procedure process They applied numbing cream, I waited about 20 minutes, they showed me the 6 cc of filler that would go in, and then started the procedure right away. I was worried because some people say it hurts and some say it doesn’t, but it didn’t hurt much. It just felt a bit unfamiliar hearing a gurgling sound from my ear. For people who have gotten ear piercings, I think it’s pain you can tolerate? It’s easier to think of it as getting several less-painful piercings (For reference, I’m pretty good with injections.) But! In one ear, I heard a gurgling sound really close to my ear, so I flinched. I think the doctor probably thought I flinched because it hurt. Rather than pain, the gurgling sound was so close that I thought, “Is it okay to inject this close to the eardrum?” and flinched reflexively. Sure enough, 1-2 hours after the procedure, my ear felt itchy, so I gently scratched it with a cotton swab, and blood and filler came out together.. I was so shocked that I called the clinic + immediately went back again, but by the time I got there, both the bleeding and the filler had stopped. I kept asking if this was really okay, and they said it can happen because the skin of the ear is very thin. Because I was worried about necrosis and all that, I was completely out of it... I was also a bit angry + upset. Still, they took care of the follow-up right away, so I felt a little better. (But the place I went to has so many people that it did feel a bit like a factory-style clinic.) 4) Result For me, it was beyond what I imagined! Before ear filler, you know how you push your ears forward while imagining, “What would it feel like if I got ear filler?” Maybe because my ears are small, the effect showed well with a smaller amount (not small in absolute terms, but by that clinic’s standards), but the procedure made them look much bigger and pop out way more than when I pushed them with my own hands!!! It was so fascinating!!!! Kind of like Dumbo ears? It might be more accurate to say my ears feel spread out in all directions It also feels like the ears themselves got bigger. They only injected filler behind the ears, so how did they do this... I’m still amazed. 5) Day 1-2 review On the day of the procedure, because of the issue where filler came out of my ear canal, I rushed back to the clinic in a panic, so I was extremely tense all day. Maybe because of that, it didn’t really hurt much until that evening. I didn’t get red swelling or bruising either. (A fairly large amount went into my truly tiny ears, but if there’s no bruising/swelling, I do think the doctor’s technique is good.) I was really worried about swelling and bruising (because then it would be too obvious I had to return to daily life right away), but there was none at all, so it was okay. Still, my ears do feel hot / tight and swollen! I also have a slight headache. People who say it didn’t hurt at all... probably have a really good constitution or a high pain threshold. I think it would be hard for it not to hurt at all, since it’s a procedure where quite a large amount of filler is injected. Still, it’s manageable for daily life! Especially if your daily life is sedentary (office job, etc.), don’t worry. But!!!!!! The most uncomfortable thing!!!!!!!! Sleeping is freaking uncomfortable!!!!! Especially not being able to sleep on my side You know people who can’t sleep well unless they sleep on their side? That’s me. Yesterday I literally woke up every hour, not because my ears hurt, but because sleeping straight on my back was uncomfortable. So I hurriedly bought a pillow to prevent ear pressure. But this is really critical... I don’t know when it’ll get okay again, but if I can’t lie on my side for more than 2 weeks, I don’t think I’ll ever get it again. It’s pretty and all good... but I don’t want to do it while harming my everyday health I don’t have that much procedure experience, so maybe I’m being extra dramatic, but for jaw Botox and things like that, there isn’t much discomfort in daily life... But with this, the level of damage to my stamina because I can’t sleep on my side is sooo critical. If it gets okay after a week, I might consider it again... I’ll bring another review after a week!!
