<Before surgery><After surgery>Surgery motivation: I had a severe recessed chin and snoring, so I became very self-conscious about showing my side profile, and it felt like it was becoming a complex. Among the options, I heard that chin advancement surgery could help not only with appearance but also with snoring, so I decided to have the surgery. Recovery process: Honestly, I struggled so much on the first day that I even regretted having the surgery. The pain was tolerable, but the hardest part was that breathing was extremely difficult.. Because my chin was advanced in two steps and I also had a fairly large amount of bleeding, the problem seemed to be that the area under my tongue was very swollen. Because of that, they expected my swelling would go down more slowly than other people’s, but the clinic staff all took very diligent care of me, and personally I iced it almost all day long, so after a week I was able to catch up to the usual pace of swelling reduction. For the first few days, I had to sleep sitting up and couldn’t sleep anyway, so I thought, if I can’t sleep either way, I might as well keep icing it, and I think that actually helped a lot. Swelling: For the first 1-2 weeks, I was extremely swollen, almost to the level of a square jaw, but from the 3rd week onward, I could visibly feel the swelling going down. After that, I went around without a mask. Food: During the first week, I only ate things like porridge. In the 2nd week, I tried regular food, and I started feeling pain along with a cracking sound from my jaw, so after that I ate only porridge for about 2 more weeks. If you feel anxious, please don’t go through the same experience as me, and I think it would be better to wait a little longer for recovery before trying regular food.. Thoughts at 3 months: Currently, except for some tight pulling in the jaw muscles, sensation has almost returned, and there is no discomfort in daily life. They said the muscle tightness will gradually improve too, so I’m trusting that and waiting. In terms of appearance, when I looked at myself, my impression had changed so much that I felt embarrassed, thinking everyone around me would notice, but surprisingly, it was nice that no one seemed to notice at all. Everyone just told me I looked more handsome or that I had lost weight, so I could feel satisfied with the change without feeling embarrassed. If you have a complex about this, I think it may be worth considering at least once, even for the sake of confidence.
