I had surgery in August, so it has been 2 months now! Reason I decided to have surgery It did not cause major problems in my daily life, and people around me would not really notice unless I mentioned my complex. But I was always bothered by my lower face, so after thinking about it for several years, I decided to do it. Even before surgery, my recessed chin was not extremely severe, so I worried whether I might regret having surgery. But I felt that most of my complex came from having a recessed chin. I thought that if I put in an implant, I might someday have an inflammatory reaction, so I decided on chin-tip advancement because I thought a permanent surgery with definite results would be better. I did not think about the hospital for as long as I expected. I thought a private clinic would be safer than a factory-style hospital, and rather than a place that does many different surgeries, I wanted to go to a hospital specializing in bone surgery. When I first had the consultation, the director was very kind and explained everything in detail, and the clinic atmosphere was very nice and friendly, so I decided on this place! From before surgery to the day of surgery and after surgery, they looked after me so kindly, and I am very grateful. Recovery process and changes The level of pain was really not much! I was under anesthesia anyway, and I heard there are no nerves in the bone, so there is not much pain. When wearing the compression band, there was a slight throbbing and tight feeling, but I do not think it was very uncomfortable. From day 3, I was eating kimchi octopus porridge just fine.. haha On day 6, I even ate Jikova chicken by myself lol The intraoral incision was not large, and when I brushed my teeth and used mouthwash as the hospital instructed, it healed well without any major problems. The sensation in my front chin started slowly coming back from day 2 with some itching! Actually, what I worried about most was sensation, and although one specific area is coming back very slowly, everything except that local area has almost returned. There is really no discomfort at all in daily life, so I do not think much about it coming back slowly. Especially, I was worried because people said removing the stitches really hurts, but the nurse who removed them did it so gently that it did not hurt at all! Until week 2, there was still swelling, so my chin looked like Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, but after the stitches were removed, the swelling seemed to go down quickly! From week 2, except for the front muscles looking a little tight/clumped, it was barely noticeable, so I took a lot of photos too haha Right after the stitches were removed, I worried a lot because of the scar tissue inside my mouth, but now that 2 months have passed, I can make facial expressions much better, so it definitely seems to get better as time passes. Satisfaction with the changes I like taking photos, but a recessed chin is really angle-dependent in photos.. so I often only took front-facing photos. But even with just a slight change to the front chin, it has become much less angle-dependent, so I like it. And honestly, it is so unnoticeable that people around me would never know unless I told them, but when I look at before-and-after photos, it is definitely different! It is a small change, but people who know me have often said the after looks much better. I think my complex has definitely improved haha I am very satisfied with that alone. When people hear bone surgery, many worry because it sounds like a really major surgery. Of course it is right to think carefully about it, but for me, the recovery process was smoother than expected, so I think you do not have to worry too much.
