Hi I had rhinoplasty once 5 years ago. Used 4.5 mm silicone + ear cartilage (no septal extension) Decided on removal and reconstruction due to <contracture progressing from inflammation> 1. ㄱㅇㅅ The consultation details are written in detail in my previous post. The cost was close to ten million won. I passed because seeing the outdated facilities made me want to look around more. 2. jwㅈㅇ This place recommended revision surgery using autologous costal cartilage. The cost was over ten million won. Director ㅅㅁㄱ was nice, but after making a reservation, I kept thinking this didn’t seem like the right thing, revision surgery with autologous costal cartilage under general anesthesia, so I canceled. 3. ㅇㄱㅈㅇㅇㅂ The only hospital that recommended removal only. I really liked the doctor’s consultation, so I had 2 consultations. It was a contracted nose, but maybe the contracture progression wasn’t extremely severe; they said not to do surgery to lower the nasal tip.. I said I didn’t want the nostrils to become more upturned if the silicone was removed from a contracted nose, but they said it would come down. Silicone and capsule removal / cartilage repositioning using the existing nasal cartilage Cost 4 million won~ 4. ㅅㅅㅇ I went in knowing the doctor was defensive and the consultant was intense, but I brought CT photos, the operative record from my first surgery, and wrote down all of my condition, then showed them photos of my original nose during the consultation. The tone was irritable, but they explained as much as they needed to, so it was okay. Recommended removing all silicone, capsule, scar tissue, and cartilage, then lowering the nasal tip using the septum + nasal cartilage. A completely different story from ㅇㄱㅈㅇㅇㅂ. I talked with the consultant, and removal vs revision surgery is a choice. If you only remove for contracture, only a minority of cases come down. With contracture, the nasal tip definitely lifts, and it may take time to come down or it may not come down. Cost almost 6 million won. 5. Lastly, the hospital of the director who did my nose surgery As soon as he came in, he said he was sorry. He said fortunately my first surgery had been done in a state that made revision surgery or removal easy. Silicone removal + leaving the existing nasal-tip cartilage as is + harvesting new ear cartilage to lower the nasal tip Cost: anesthesia fee only But I wonder if he’s really a revision specialist.. I don’t think I’ll get it done by this person. (The consultant is his wife. At first she consulted very defensively and spoke in a way that felt really unpleasant. She was like, “It doesn’t seem like contracture came~”.. even though on CT the silicone had completely come down;;) @@Everyone here with contracture.. if you only had removal, did it come down as much as your original nose within 1 year..?
