<In order: before surgery, before, after> I had really wanted double eyelid surgery for such a long time, but many friends around me had their image change after double eyelid surgery, so I kept worrying and couldn’t get the surgery. But from early this year, I started feeling discomfort because my eyelids were drooping, so I finally made up my mind, went around for consultations, and got the surgery! What I felt while going around for consultations is, it may be a slight prejudice, but personally, compared with large hospitals, single-doctor clinics often specialize in eyes and the consultations themselves were more detailed. There were places that realistically told me, “This probably won’t be effective,” and “Don’t do this much,” so thanks to that I think I was able to get surgery only for the things I genuinely needed. Among the single-doctor clinics, the reason I had surgery here was that the director explained various surgical methods, and explained in detail why this surgical method suited me and why other surgical methods were unnecessary. Also, to make sure there wouldn’t be the change in impression that I kept emphasizing, he explained for almost several tens of minutes how the surgery should be done. Honestly, the director probably meets several people a day who come for consultations like me, but I liked that he explained things this sincerely every time, and I thought that at this level, it wouldn’t be a hospital that ignores you after surgery. Originally I was debating between incision and buried suture, but the director said my eyes could come undone if done with buried suture, but if I wanted a non-incisional method, it would be okay if done while removing fat. So I got buried suture, ptosis correction, and fat removal together, and because of the inner corners of my eyes, I also had canthoplasty. Other than that, he cut out everything unnecessary, and said he would perform the surgery beautifully, so I remember listening to the consultation feeling really good until the end. And this is probably true for any surgery, but with double eyelid surgery, because the swelling is on the eyes themselves, during weeks 1-2 I got ugly-face anxiety lol I felt the swelling started going down quickly after week 2, and for me, by one month, the major swelling had all gone down, and with makeup it wasn’t very noticeable, so I even retook my ID photo and comfortably went about daily life! I liked the photo so much that I posted it on my Instagram story for the first time after double eyelid surgery, and the reaction was seriously explosive… hahaha Everyone said it was well done, so I felt proud I like the double eyelids themselves, but above all, recovery was smooth, and every time I went for follow-up checks, the director, consultant, and staff all treated me so kindly, which really put me at ease. Now I don’t open my eyes with forehead strength anymore, so opening my eyes is so comfortable~ haha I’m satisfied because I think the surgery turned out naturally well!!
