After worrying my whole life because of my square jaw complex, I eventually decided to have one type of facial contouring surgery in my late 30s. To be honest, I was really scared right up until the surgery and was very worried it might hurt. Before surgery, I looked into two clinics. The first place I visited, “ㅇㅇ,” used an intraoral incision method, so I felt burdened because I thought I would need a blood drainage bag and the recovery period would be long. In the end, I chose “ㅂㄷ,” which performs the surgery with an endoscope behind the ear. They only made an incision of about 2.5 cm behind the ear, and the surgery took about 1 to 1.5 hours. There were no separate tests, and I could also check the CCTV footage, so I felt reassured. More than anything, I trusted the director because he is a solo director with 18 years of experience. I had the surgery in the afternoon, fasted for about 4 hours, and took a half-day off before going. I received swelling care a total of 3 times, and the stitches were removed on day 8 or 9. The major swelling started going down from day 3, and there was almost no pain, much less than I expected. Maybe because it was only one type of contouring surgery, I could even talk right after surgery, and it really felt true when people say, “It doesn’t hurt at all.” The uncomfortable parts were that it was hard to open my mouth because of the swelling, the reality of not being able to wash my hair for 3 days, and having to sleep with my head higher than my heart. Still, luckily there was a holiday break, so I was able to have about 2 weeks of recovery time and return to daily life. On the day of surgery, once it was actually happening, I was nervous and out of it, but the director and operating room staff made me feel comfortable, so I was able to ease a lot of the tension. Now I’m free from my square jaw complex and I’m very satisfied. I feel like I put it off for no reason.
