I will try to write objective facts as much as possible, but there may be some subjective judgment; I think everyone here will understand. From now on, I’m just being blunt. If you disagree, that is on you. 1. Introduction I am a beginner who is going to get my first eyelid (double-eyelid) surgery. (In the end, it looks like it will be double-eyelid +a.) Since it is the first time I’m putting a scalpel near my eyes, I was scared. And to be honest, there are too many plastic surgery clinics and costs are high, so I wanted to be careful. I was definitely indecisive. So I walked into as many hospitals as possible to look at my eyes objectively and see what was actually needed. I had almost zero knowledge about double-eyelid surgery before. So I checked community posts, then got Perplexity to pull info because looking it up was annoying, learned roughly, and watched YouTube for details (incision/non-incision, canthal/eye-lid line correction methods, canthopexy-like trimming, brow-lift etc.). Then I found out which hospital I should go to first. Honestly, a friend said I had to visit 3~5 places, but I was too lazy, so I was going to just go to one place. Then I heard that consultations for this year were already closed, so I couldn’t go in person... (I called in July, they said surgery schedules were full until December and to call again in November for consultation, so I just skipped.) So the clinics I checked were selected as the first scouting set by scraping community reviews through Perplexity (some were also recommended by acquaintances, which was surprising). Then I manually checked more reviews, and places that repeatedly appeared became the first set, plus one extra recommendation from an acquaintance became the second set (I’ll list that too). (+I wanted to go to ㅇㅁㄹ, ㅇㅁㄷ, ㅍ, ㄷㅇㅇ, ㄴㄴ and so on, but with so much scouting, it became too exhausting and I couldn’t. ( same with ㅇㅇㅂ) Manager (1st): took photos and did stuff for 5 minutes. Waited exactly 56 minutes until I met the surgeon. Surgeon consultation: 15 minutes — very long. Manager (2nd): 20 minutes
Kindness: manager and surgeon were polite.
(2) Consultation details Doctor: - Surgical method: buried/sutured double-eyelid + fat removal + brow-lift-like procedure + upper canthopexy (left 1mm, right 1.5mm) - Said partial incision is not preferred. - Explained very enthusiastically why a brow elevation was needed. I got convinced. I’m a floppy-eye type. You could tell the doctor is serious about brow elevation because he had handouts prepared. - Line: inner double-eyelid.
Manager: - A/S: 1 year free (revisions after 6 months have anesthesia fee) - Sleep anesthesia cost: I forgot to ask this;; awkward... - Deposit condition: can withdraw... but the condition sounds vague... how to ask exactly? Is symmetry “objective” if something like asymmetry is in the case, while asymmetry is subjective for each person? Both doctor and manager said symmetry cannot be made perfect because all faces are naturally asymmetric. - Surgery time: didn’t ask;; should be similar somewhere else. - The doctor is very detailed; he said design consultation alone takes over 30 minutes. - Anesthesia: sleep + local anesthesia (need correction, so eyes open/close) — similar to other clinics. - About being deeply sedated: there may be a difference between brief and long sleep, and if very long, I had a fear that maybe delegated surgery could happen. Of course, that’s probably wrong. This place didn’t seem like that. - CCTV: can be fully viewed if within 1 month (30,000 KRW) - Follow-up care: - Follow-up milestones: stitch removal (day 7) - 3 months - 6 months - possible if requested - Surgeon checks progress directly - Scar care: after 1 month, scar injections/laser may be done. free, from 3 months onward. - Edema laser/injection: laser free (on stitch removal day and within 1 month), injection from 1 month if scar swelling exists, no session limit, free. - Before/after photos: marketing department sends them via KakaoTalk. - looked acceptable.

A lot of video recording like TikTok style... quite chaotic. Slightly not a factory but has a factory-like feel. - 4 posted reviews gives a discount. - Left with deposit taken.

In the waiting room there were books about eye-surgery know-how, and I looked through them while waiting. Nice. I personally liked that there were before/after photos. Of course, I had already checked available photos before visiting. Waiting time: not that long, maybe 10~15 minutes, at most around 20.
(2) Consultation details Doctor: - Said I need eyelid incision about 5mm. My eyelid contour is slightly sunk, so correction is needed. Incision with fat removal is needed, plus anterior canthal revision (hook-type, about 1mm). - Said inner double-eyelid style. - I personally liked the proposed line. - Earlier some posts said he seemed stiff, but I honestly didn’t feel that. I thought, "Isn’t this already kind?" It was fine.
Manager: - Very kind. - Before the surgeon’s consultation, they asked what I needed, what line I wanted, and what I wanted improved. - After the surgeon’s consultation, they explained basics (anesthesia, aftercare, surgical details, line etc.) and invited questions. - Surgery time: 1 hr + about 2 hr prep/recovery = about 3 hr - Asked for before/after cases similar to mine - looked fairly natural and okay. (By “pretty” I mean I have no sense of aesthetics. In elementary/middle school art class I was only decent at one thing. So maybe it looks good to me, but others may differ.) - More before/after cases than I expected, and especially many with fatty eyelids, which I appreciated. (Again, my eyes are puffy. Not from bee stings, just naturally puffy. There were other places too, so I sat after checking in and reading a book. No one came right away. Finally, 10 minutes before appointment, the manager spoke with me for about 2 minutes. Of course, I had already provided personal info at check-in; that time was saved. After manager talk, waited about 40 minutes. Then because surgery got longer, waited another 28 minutes. They apologized. This looks like a high-volume clinic, with many Chinese and foreign patients; multilingual staff were interpreting, making it feel efficient.
(2) Consultation details Doctor: - Recommended incisional eyelid-line correction + upper lateral canthopexy (front canthal revision) - Said brow lifting seemed needed. - This would likely reduce re-opening probability and gives good results. - Outer corner of my eyes looked drooping. - Lower canthoplasty (뒤밑트임) also would help, but compared with brow lift, brow lift was better. - Very kind. - Line is okay (inner double-eyelid). - Among 16 clinics I visited, this felt the most commercial. Too much pushy sales... Already this was my first time hearing about brow-lift at this stage; out of 16 places only 3 mentioned it. There is also forehead lift at one place, brow-lift 3 places. - Final plan: incisional double-eyelid + fat removal + incisional eyelid-line correction + upper canthal revision + brow lift + (later) lower canthoplasty option.
Manager: - Kind. - Surgery time: brow lift (2.5 hr) + double-eyelid + front canthopexy (2.5 hr) - includes preparation, consultation, and recovery. - A/S and revision: - 1 year free (anesthesia both eyes: 200,000 KRW extra) - Revision conditions: usually if asymmetry is visibly obvious or line opens. - Follow-up: suture removal (day 7) - 1 month - 3 month check - Recovery: - No edema laser - If severe scar swelling, free injection - Anesthesia: sleep first, then local (I saw this in all clinics I visited).
(3) Other notes Consultation fee: 30,000 KRW It felt like too many add-ons; not interested. Also it felt like they rushed between consultation and another patient immediately, so I skipped this one. Cost tier:? (will fill later) - If deposit is made, 100% refundable; 10% discount with photos + review upload. - I did make a deposit. They said 100% refundable, so okay. But after a week I hadn’t gotten a refund. Manager said in a somewhat irritated tone they’d talk to billing. After another week still not canceled; I called again, asked why it was delayed, got no reason, asked again and the call was ended. Ridiculous. When I checked 11 days after cancellation request (today), it turned out canceled. - Since my own opinion was to keep things conservative, and because it felt too commercial, doctor looked very busy, and they recommended brow lift that didn’t match my age/style, I excluded this via elimination. (When manager asked why canceling, he thought ‘elimination rule’ and laughed a lot. It was unpleasant... I guess canceling means it’s not a part-time thing after all...)

He said usually one side is 34mm (distance from nose to eye maybe) and the other 40mm. Hearing details like that felt trustworthy. (Among doctors who explained in detail, he was the 1-minute detail in 3 minutes? I’m just saying.) - Line: inner double-eyelid - Line looks a bit bold/dense.
