One-month review after double-jaw surgery + facial contouring

Since I was young, I had Class III malocclusion where my lower teeth covered my upper teeth, and I also had crooked teeth, so I couldn’t smile showing my teeth and take photos. Ever since I was a student, people wrote on rolling papers that I should get jaw surgery, I heard a lot that I should get double-jaw surgery, and I was teased a lot for having a protruding lower jaw. After becoming an adult, I went to several dental clinics just to at least get orthodontic treatment, but I kept being rejected because they said I was a double-jaw surgery case. The place that finally accepted me saying orthodontics was possible happened to be a dental clinic that later appeared in the news, and after wasting money and time, I went to a pre-surgical orthodontic clinic and was getting orthodontics for surgery. During that time, I even had two teeth extracted in my early 20s, but as I went around for double-jaw surgery consultations, I suddenly became so scared of double-jaw surgery.. I had lived fine until now without doing it, so did I really have to? I wasn’t going to become a celebrity, and my family’s financial situation was difficult, so I felt like this wasn’t the right time. In the end, I canceled the surgery, got implants, and finished orthodontic treatment in my mid-20s. Then I turned 30.. My jaw felt like it had been growing more and more, and there was also relapse, so the movement of my lower teeth trying to cover my upper teeth again felt uncomfortable. Every time I took photos, I was busy hiding my chin, and it was hard always having to edit photos too. Thinking about living with this jaw for the rest of my life felt awful. We only live once, and I really wanted to change it. My parents were always against it because they said it was dangerous, even though I was paying with my own money, so it was always hard to persuade them. But the fact that Director Lee Seok-jae runs a YouTube channel really helped a lot I played it for my parents every day. Since he is a director with a lot of experience, I really trusted him!! Also, at the oral and maxillofacial clinic, you can watch the surgery in real time through CCTV, and I felt reassured that they only do one surgery per day! During the consultation, he told me that my bone was thin, so he would do IVRO, which made him feel reliable haha. One of the reasons I chose this clinic was that I wanted the result to be natural yet pretty, and it matched the direction I was aiming for. Since I’m in my 30s, I asked for a natural result without overdoing it, also to help prevent sagging. So I successfully persuaded my parents and had double-jaw surgery and two types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw and chin) at the oral and maxillofacial clinic! <Surgery day> I’m sure everyone searched hard online for double-jaw surgery supplies and reviews, but after having surgery at this clinic, I was surprised. They really had all the supplies prepared! The inpatient room was also so clean and comfortable that right after surgery, I thought I had made the right choice~ Honestly, you could come empty-handed lol. They have everything~~!! I actually wasn’t nervous at all and mostly felt excited because I wanted to change quickly. But once I entered the operating room, I started shaking like crazy and got so nervous. They needed to put me under anesthesia, but I kept stopping them and talking I felt sorry. When I heard, “Are you conscious?” and opened my eyes, I was sitting on the hospital bed. According to my mom, who came as my guardian, I really wouldn’t wake up, so everyone had a hard time. To me, it felt like I was dreaming, drooling, and sleeping deeply! After opening my eyes, I thought, right, I had surgery?? Oh, I can’t talk.. and tried to get my mind together lol. I wasn’t sleepy at all and was wide awake. I was not in a state to use my phone!! Also, maybe because I’m someone who doesn’t respond well to Tylenol and always used to take the maximum dose of painkillers, and because I’m a bit dramatic about pain, it hurt I was grateful that the nurses diligently changed my ice packs and gave me painkillers every hour. Honestly, I don’t think a guardian is needed at this clinic….!! That’s how amazing the nurses were. I really don’t think I could have gotten through it without them. Everyone has heard that breathing is hard after double-jaw surgery, but since you haven’t experienced it, even though I was prepared, it was really hard. <The day after surgery> I couldn’t sleep, and I had an oxygen respirator on for two days because breathing was difficult… I was really touched and grateful that they did their best to make the patient comfortable. Since I stayed up all night, all kinds of things happened. At dawn, I said my arms and legs were cramping, so the nurses massaged them for me, and they went through a lot together too At dawn, the air pressure drops and it gets even harder, but they encouraged me by saying that in the morning they would remove the urinary catheter and the blood drains, and things would only get better from there, which really gave me strength. And in the morning, they really removed everything (it didn’t hurt at all. Everyone was kind, so I felt more comfortable!), and when I heard from the director that the surgery went well, I felt relieved and improved enough to walk around. I walked diligently whenever I could. Walking makes breathing easier!! I also slept little by little. <Discharge day> While I was at the hospital, getting swelling laser treatment every morning was so nice. I slept so well… While waiting for my parents to come, I walked around the hospital a lot, and I definitely became more comfortable and better. The pain also became okay, and I had already grown attached, so I didn’t want to be discharged(?) lol. I listened to the discharge instructions and really didn’t want to go home, but the day to go home came.. My dad drove, and even though we went by car, my jaw felt like it was dangling, so I held it in place with the facial compression band and went gently. Once I actually got home, the tension relaxed and I felt comfortable. At home, it was a repetition of drinking New Care, taking medicine, and gargling. <Day 4> After discharge, my face swelled tremendously. I was shocked. It got more swollen day by day, my tongue got pinched inside the wafer and left wafer marks on my tongue, and my face felt like it was going to burst lol. I only did cold compresses until this day. The feeling of heat also disappeared by then. I still needed to take painkillers, but what was hard was that at night, because of the air pressure, my nose got blocked, so I couldn’t sleep even sitting up. I barely slept a little only during the day And once you drink New Care, take medicine, and gargle, the whole day passes.. I spent time watching animation while hoping the miracle of one week would happen. <One week> Now the swelling goes down! As it does, I gradually feel more comfortable, the nosebleeds stop, and breathing through my nose gets easier day by day! At night it was still hard, so I couldn’t live without Otrivin haha. Brushing my teeth was difficult, so I only sprayed gargle, but when I went to the hospital for disinfection, they told me I needed to brush well, so from this day on I started brushing diligently. Double-jaw surgery is truly a battle against time. You get better day by day! Now I got tired of New Care, so I started searching for and drinking every liquid I could find, like cold noodle broth, dongchimi, galbitang broth, watermelon juice, etc. lol. Still, because I was only having liquids, I had no energy <Two weeks> My weight dropped from 47 to 42 kg. I had no energy, so I couldn’t even go for walks, but the swelling did go down day by day! I was scared to go to the hospital that day to have the stitches removed, but it didn’t hurt much! For me, because the inside of my mouth was swollen, opening my mouth hurt more Both lips were cracked, so I belatedly applied Vaseline.. And after learning how to attach the rubber bands, I tried attaching and removing the wafer, but because of the swelling, it just wouldn’t work.. I injured the sutured area, bled, and needed suction. Thank you to the other nurse who struggled for about an hour again because of me and helped me until the end Even though I could attach and remove the wafer, the rubber bands were hard, so at first I just went back to drinking New Care… I even couldn’t change the rubber bands, so I went to a local dental clinic and asked them to put them on for me.. After a few days like that, the swelling went down, and I could finally change the rubber bands by myself! <Week 4> Just when I felt like life was getting manageable, I went to the hospital and had the wafer removed!! I felt so free, and although my bite was still fixed with rubber bands, I could talk It really felt like I could live again! I could chew little by little too, so aside from Spam, I just mashed up and ate everything, even pork cutlet lol. Eating became easier, and as my face and jaw gained strength, my mouth moved more stably, and I could feel myself getting better day by day. The swelling is still round!! Still, I returned to work and started working little by little. My stamina still isn’t enough to overdo it, so I have to take it easy. After surgery, I started liking looking in the mirror, and it’s the first time I’ve liked my side profile in photos, so it feels amazing Everyone says I got prettier and that I did well, so I’m even happier. I go around saying I’ve started my second life. I’m really satisfied, and I want to call Director Lee Seok-jae my father lolol That’s how satisfied I am even at one month, before all the swelling has gone down! Once it all goes down, I think it will look really natural.

This review is of surgery pursuing a natural look.
