I’m a university student in my mid-20s who had double-jaw surgery at Seoul Face 21 Dental Clinic on June 20, and I’m now entering my second month after surgery. -Reason for surgery I decided to have double-jaw surgery to improve my protruding lower jaw and asymmetry caused by Class III malocclusion. I also had cheekbone surgery at the same time to soften my angular face shape. -Criteria for choosing the surgical clinic The parts I considered important when choosing a clinic were as follows. 1. Whether it was an oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic with extensive experience that could perform surgery safely 2. Whether surgery-first treatment was possible and whether it could be connected with postoperative orthodontic treatment 3. Whether it could satisfy both functional and aesthetic aspects Considering these points, I felt that Seoul Face 21 Dental Clinic was the most suitable. Also, the director and the consultant were kind and thorough during the consultation, which made me certain that I should have surgery here. -Surgery review The hardest part after surgery was that my nose and throat felt blocked, making it difficult to breathe in the beginning. The evening of the surgery day was especially hard, but the nurses took very attentive care of me, which helped a lot. The breathing discomfort only lasted until day 2, and from after discharge on day 3, breathing gradually became easier and I could feel myself recovering day by day. Also, because I couldn’t eat regular food for 5 weeks, I lost about 10 kg. Since I was eating much less than usual, enduring hunger was not easy. But seeing that I was losing weight and my face was gradually improving made me think that if I just got through the early stage, the time when I would feel satisfied would come quickly. -Swelling changes The swelling was worst on days 4-5 after surgery, and from then on, I could noticeably see it going down. At first, I was worried because the swelling seemed to make my face look worse, but from week 2, the double chin that had bothered me the most reduced a lot and my overall facial contour started to show, so my satisfaction became greater than my worries. Also, to reduce the swelling quickly, I personally walked more than 10,000 steps every day from week 1, and I think receiving the clinic’s swelling care at the same time had a big effect. At one month, most of the major swelling had gone down except around the philtrum and front cheeks, and now at two months, the philtrum and front cheeks have also become almost natural, so they have improved to the point that I don’t really notice them. I hope the remaining swelling will continue to improve through the swelling care I receive at Seoul Face 21 Dental Clinic, and this concludes my two-month review. Thank you.
