Double-Jaw Surgery Reviews

Malocclusion that was difficult to fix with orthodontics,,,! Finally succeeded with double-jaw surgery

Since I was young, chewing was uncomfortable, so I went to a dental clinic for orthodontic treatment, but I was told it would be difficult to improve with orthodontics alone and that I needed double-jaw surgery. I wasn't very interested in my appearance, but from my school days, people around me kept saying my jaw was long, so I started caring about my appearance too and began considering double-jaw surgery. However, because I had been an athlete since I was young, I never thought I would end up getting double-jaw surgery, but after I stopped exercising professionally, I had the surgery! I like extreme sports such as combat sports, so my biggest concern was whether there would be any issue with exercising again after surgery, but I heard that after recovery, bone strength returns to a normal level. So I had consultations at 2 places through an app and then decided on Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. The reason I chose Y Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery was that I thought safety and function were more important than appearance. The director is an oral and maxillofacial specialist, and during the consultation, I felt they prioritized safety and function above all, such as one surgery per day and postoperative care. They gave me an honest consultation about the parts I was worried about, and unlike other hospitals, they didn't push me to schedule surgery right away and told me to look into it thoroughly before deciding, so I trusted them. But because they do one surgery per day, I was worried I wouldn't be able to book the date I wanted, so I booked in a hurry... haha So! On June 25, I had double-jaw surgery and 2 types of facial contouring surgery (square jaw, chin) haha. After preparing this and that, when the surgery day came, I wasn't hugely worried, but I was nervous and my heart was beating fast. When I entered the operating room, the anesthesiology director gave me a respirator, and as I focused on deep breathing, the surgery was over... Right after surgery, I woke up startled and disoriented as the nurses were helping me sit up, but they moved me well on their own, and when I came to my senses, I was already properly in bed. I had to stay awake to let the gas out, and they said I couldn't drink water either, but I was so sleepy and thirsty that it was hard... (But once nighttime came and I could actually sleep, I couldn't fall asleep;;) They said my nose would get blocked after surgery, but at first, I could breathe through my nose, as if there was a tube in my nose, so I tried to breathe through my nose as much as possible so it wouldn't get blocked. Once the nose gets blocked, it stays blocked for about 1 week... My face wasn't as painful as I expected, maybe because they kept giving me painkillers, but the bed was hard, so my butt and lower back actually hurt more... Be sure to bring a cushion... Even at night, a nurse came in every 2 hours to check my condition. At that time, I choked while drinking water, and the nurse gave me a small syringe. Using the syringe was extremely convenient. Personally, I think a syringe is better than a Daiso sauce bottle! Oh, and I brought a lot of different things, but because I was actually in pain and couldn't lower my head, I didn't use anything except my tablet.. The next day Everything except the IV was removed, and they said moving around was good, but I couldn't sleep, so I just kept lying down trying to sleep. The difference from the first day was that I was wearing a wafer, so I would get short of breath from time to time. Still, because it was non-fixation, I could open my mouth when I felt short of breath, so that was a relief. Discharge day Aside from my face hurting, everything else was fine. Except for eating and taking walks all day, I was lying down, so rather than being hard, it was nice haha. They said walking was the best, so I deliberately went grocery shopping too, but maybe because of the sleep anesthesia, I got extremely short of breath, so I walked around while taking breaks here and there. From two days after discharge, the facial swelling started going down quickly and my nose opened up, so it became really comfortable. But my nose was annoyingly stuffy, so I had a huge urge to blow my nose lol. First appointment (1 week after surgery) The director checked the condition of my mouth and disinfected it too, and for me, the disinfection was the most painful... Still, I was glad because I was told I could now eat things like porridge. After the appointment, I had almost no pain in daily life, but when I lowered my head, I got nosebleeds, and when I tried to sleep, pain would appear... haha Week 4 I took out the wafer and started orthodontic treatment. Now I can eat all soft foods like rice, and since the wafer is out too, there's nothing uncomfortable! People around me tell me a lot that I look cuter and younger. Personally, I feel like I look more natural now, so when I see old photos, they actually feel strange... haha Additionally.. Because there was little pain after surgery and the swelling went down quickly, I overdid it a bit helping at my older sister's shop, and in week 3, a tremendously large inflammation developed in my jaw... When I went to the hospital for treatment, the doctor said that from week 2 to week 3, this can occasionally happen if you let your guard down and overexert yourself... I recommend that everyone not let their guard down and overdo it just because you feel better! It was a day when I originally didn't have an appointment, but everyone treated me so kindly, so I was grateful...
