After I previously wrote a review about going around for consultations at 6 clinics for under-eye fat repositioning, I got consultations at 7 more places, and after that I had consultation appointments booked at 2 more places.. but the last place I had a consultation at matched my criteria the best, so I canceled the 2 consultation appointments and had surgery in early August! So far, it has improved compared with before, so I’m satisfied, and I wanted to leave the checklist I personally organized while going to 13 consultations! It was my very first cosmetic surgery ever, so everything felt overwhelming, but I was able to get a lot of help from this community and make my decision. If there’s anyone like me, I hope this post helps! Under-eye fat repositioning surgery is not as simple as you might think, and because each person’s harmony with their face, eye shape, under-eye fat condition, etc. is different, I think it’s important to find a clinic that suits you haha. And above all, since the eyes are a part that greatly affects your impression, I hope you’ll be careful about whether to have surgery and which clinic to choose! * While looking into under-eye fat repositioning and getting consultations, I leaned toward not doing fat grafting, so please keep that in mind! - Is it a single-doctor clinic? - Is there a scheduled follow-up after surgery where you check the progress ‘directly with the doctor’? - Does it specialize in eyes (or under-eyes)? - What is the surgical method? - Do they understand the shape and special characteristics of my eyes and explain accordingly (eye shape, under-eye fullness, wrinkles, dark circles, etc.) + harmony with the face, etc.? - To what extent can they improve the areas I’m dissatisfied with? (Do they properly tell me the degree of improvement and the limits?) - What kind of anesthesia do they use (local / sedation)? - Do they only reposition without removing fat? - Do they explain side effects? - Do they show many cases similar to my eyes? - Is the doctor not authoritarian and is kind? - How many surgeries do they do per day? - How much is the price? - Is there CCTV in the operating room? - How is aftercare handled? (Whether A/S is available and for how long, whether services such as swelling care after surgery are provided) - Other clinic atmosphere (skip it if the clinic feels like a chaotic marketplace and the doctor does a lot of TV appearances and SNS activity) - Whether fat grafting is necessary (skip it if they recommend it) - Are there promotions? (skip it if there are) - They recommend other procedures/surgeries besides under-eye fat repositioning (skip it if they recommend them) Lastly, since I’m strongly J-type and the kind of person who worries a lot, I booked my surgery date as “the day after the surgery off-day + the second time slot on the day of surgery”! Doctors are human too, and since it’s surgery on a narrow area, I judged that it would be good when their condition is good after a day off and their hands have loosened up a bit after the first surgery! hahaha I hope everyone also goes to lots of consultations and makes a wise choice!
