I had a hump nose, so I had osteotomy + nasal tip surgery using septal cartilage. From the beginning, they said it wouldn’t become completely smooth because they didn’t place any dermis or silicone at all, so there was a slight step-off from the early stage? But at some point the step-off became too severe, making my nasal bridge look completely sunken, so I went to the hospital where I had the first surgery, and they said it seems like the cartilage area has collapsed a bit. Here, they said the surgical method would be to cover the sunken part of the nasal bridge with ear cartilage to match the height. They didn’t take a CT here. Just in case, I went to another hospital too, and this place took a CT. They said it already seems like an inverted-V deformity has occurred, maybe around grade 2? They said the collapsed septum needs to be reconstructed with autologous costal cartilage. They said that if it’s covered with ear cartilage, the shape may be matched as a temporary measure, but if ear cartilage is placed on a weakened area, it could eventually collapse even more. Which of the two is right.? For now, I’ve booked consultations mainly at hospitals known for revision rhinoplasty using autologous costal cartilage, but I’m worried that maybe this is something that could just be solved by covering it with ear cartilage, and I’m making it into a bigger issue than it needs to be..
