I had been really stressed about my face shape ever since I was young, but I kept giving up on the idea because of money issues and fear. But as I got older, the hollowness in my cheeks made my face shape gradually look more and more like a peanut shape.... On top of that, I even had asymmetry, so one side was more hollow. The more weight I lost, the more noticeable it looked, so I started looking into facial contouring. For me, safety came first and safety came second, so I looked for hospitals that performed the surgery itself very conservatively and safely, and I decided on ㄴㅈㅎ. Also, I really was not even hoping for a celebrity-like face shape. My biggest goal was simply to have my bumpy, uneven facial line look more refined. The consultation felt very much like what many people here say, with a strong professor-like vibe. Rather than feeling friendly, the doctor felt blunt but very professional. They explained the surgical process and things like that in detail, and honestly, I had not researched facial contouring that extensively before going, so I had a lot of questions, but they answered every single one.
<Surgery Day> On the day of surgery, I arrived at the hospital, paid the full amount, left my belongings in the recovery room, changed clothes, and took photos. Then the consultant explained the precautions, how to wear the compression band, and so on. She also looked at the Photoshopped photo I had sent and asked roughly what kind of result I wanted! Lastly, the director came in and planned the specific design for how the surgery would be done. (When you go for a consultation, I think it would be better to find before-and-after photos of celebrities or other people whose cases are most similar to yours!! My face was wide horizontally and my ears were positioned low, so I brought a photo of someone who had a similar feel to me but had a more refined face shape!) After that, I lay down in the operating room, had an IV placed in my arm, and everything proceeded very quickly and systematically... There were also so many nurses! Then they put something like an oxygen mask over my mouth and, as soon as they said the sleep medication was going in, I fell asleep...
Ha... now the pain began.... After the surgery ended, I remember the nurses beside me trying really hard to wake me up, and I think I kept retching. The nurses kept telling me to stay conscious... Somehow I made it into the recovery room and sat down, and they said I would feel nauseated because of the anesthetic gas and told me to take deep breaths. They also said I could not drink water for 4 hours and could not sleep, and this was so painful... My throat hurt so much, I had bloody phlegm stuck in my throat and kept coughing... I kept feeling nauseated and like I was going to vomit, but they told me not to vomit, so I endured it while taking deep breaths.... Honestly, the day of surgery was so hard.... The painkiller injection did not work well for me either, so the square jaw area kept throbbing, and because of the anesthetic gas my stomach felt nauseated, which was so hard I regretted it so much, thinking, ha, what kind of luxury was I trying to enjoy that made me get this surgery.... Still, the nurse who stayed there at night was really so~~ kind, kept telling me I was okay, and reassured me, so I was very grateful.... She said that all the patients who had been there regretted doing it on the day of surgery because it hurt so much, but as time passed, they became very satisfied. She said today would be the hardest and most painful, tomorrow would be better than today, and the day after tomorrow would be even better, so that gave me strength!!
<Surgery Day 1> The next morning around 10?? the director came, removed the bandage, checked the swelling, and removed the drainage tubes. I was worried because people said removing the drainage tubes felt gross, but it passed more quickly than I expected! After that, they put the compression band on me, and since I had come alone, I stayed in the recovery room for about an hour receiving an IV, then took a taxi home!! After getting home, I took medicine and just kept resting.
<Surgery Days 2-4> The swelling was really at its peak. Even my lips swelled a lot, and because of the bloody phlegm, sleeping was so difficult that I think I woke up every hour every day. And from this point, I started coughing like crazy, so it was really hard... In the beginning, the nausea was what made it hard, but at this stage, I think the bloody phlegm, coughing, and sore throat were what made it difficult. On day 3, I visited the hospital, had the tape on my chin removed, had the wounds at my sideburn area disinfected, and received a swelling laser treatment.
<Surgery Day 5> The bloody phlegm had almost stopped, and I only kept coughing, so I drank a lot of water. I still could not sleep through the night and kept waking up repeatedly. The distance between my chin and neck is on the short side, so the compression band kept pressing on my neck and was extremely uncomfortable The swelling was still very full, but it did not swell any more than that!
<Surgery Days 6-7> The coughing improved a lot, and the bloody phlegm was no longer coming out! I think drinking a lot of water helped a lot!! I could see the swelling going down little by little compared to yesterday!
<Surgery Day 8> On day 8, I visited the hospital to have the stitches removed from my sideburn area. I was worried it would hurt, but it was just a stinging feeling, so it was bearable! After removing the stitches, they also gave me swelling laser treatment and radiofrequency care, and then I went home. And from this day on, I only had to wear the compression band for 12 hours at a time, so I could sleep comfortably!
I will come back to write a review when I reach week 2!!
