Consultation Review After Shopping Around for Double Eyelid Surgery + Under-Eye Fat Repositioning

I’m a woman in my 20s, and my dark circles under my eyes are severe, so while looking into under-eye fat repositioning, I also decided to finally try the double eyelid surgery I’d been putting off. I looked into about 4 clinics, booked 2 places for the first day and 2 places for the second day, but among the 2 places I visited on the first day, there was one I liked so much that I immediately canceled all the next appointments. * Eye characteristics: horizontally long eyes, inner double eyelids, thin skin, some fat on the upper eyelids, protruding eyes * Desired double eyelid line: semi-out or in-out, a thin line from beginning to end (no sausage line xxxx) 1. ㅇㄹ (large clinic) Arrived on time, waited 30 minutes. This place is honestly very famous for under-eye fat repositioning rather than double eyelid surgery, so I visited. They definitely seemed confident about under-eye fat repositioning, and although the tear trough hollow is quite deep, they said it seemed possible without fat grafting. For the double eyelids, after testing the line, they said a semi-out line would likely require an additional canthoplasty, so they didn’t recommend it, and that an in-out line would be fully possible even with a non-incisional method. But personally, the fat on my upper eyelids stresses me out, so I asked once more whether it would really be possible with non-incisional surgery rather than incisional surgery. Honestly, if non-incisional were possible, I would have welcomed it so much! But after holding the line again, they said there was definitely a risk of sagging, and if I wanted a clearly refreshed result, incisional surgery would probably be better. However, the lines they held all looked a bit thick toward the ends by my standards, so it wasn’t exactly my taste, and I left wondering whether I should only do the under-eye fat repositioning. 2. ㅇㅇㅇ (female director) I arrived about 15 minutes early, and the consultation started right on time. After looking at my chart, she immediately explained that my preference regarding incisional/non-incisional surgery was important. Even though I said I would follow the director’s recommendation as much as possible based on results, she explained the characteristics of incisional/non-incisional methods and said my own preference was the most important, which I liked. Next, she said she would test the line in 3 stages while also checking the surgical method. Here, I only requested an in-out line.  I came in thinking only of a completely natural and thin line... Even though I knew what I wanted, the director held the line so perfectly to my taste that even when she set it deeply up to stage 3, I liked it so much that I spent 20 minutes just debating how high to make it lol. Even when I asked her to hold the line several times, she didn’t seem annoyed and did all of them for me. After that, she recommended the non-incisional method and explained the reason too! For under-eye fat repositioning, I was honestly worried because there were so few reviews, but when I arrived at the clinic, there was someone in the lobby who had come for under-eye fat repositioning, you know? So I thought a lot of people must come for under-eye fat repositioning too, and that was my first relief. And I also asked the director very carefully whether she had a lot of experience, and she didn’t take offense at all. She proudly explained that since she specializes in eyes, of course she has a lot of experience, and that under-eye fat repositioning just isn’t a marketing focus, so there aren’t many reviews, but she has many cases. That gave me my second relief. On top of that, regarding fat grafting, she honestly told me that since my tear trough hollow is deep and my cheeks are also hollow, fat grafting would be needed if I wanted to fill everything perfectly. But she said that if it were her, she would first do under-eye fat repositioning, check the condition, and if she really didn’t like it, then add fat grafting later. She also said it seems right to consider cost-effectiveness when having surgery, so for now I decided not to do fat grafting. At the end, the consulting manager also showed me review photos again while explaining, so I think I came out after carefully thinking through the double eyelid height until the very end. Honestly, you can probably tell from how long this review is... I felt that she gave me that much confidence, so I made my final decision on ㅇㅇㅇ and booked right away! If the results are good, I think I’ll bring my mom and come again to get under-eye fat repositioning for her too haha I’ll get the double eyelid surgery done well and come back to leave a review!
