First, I went into the operating room around 12:20 on 7/18, and by the time I opened my eyes and grabbed my phone, it was around 6. After moving from the operating room to the recovery room, I was so hot I seriously felt like I was going to die. I think I was busy constantly kicking off the blanket in the recovery room, and after I got to the hospital room, I used it alone. Since I kept saying I was hot, they told me they had already turned off the electric mat in advance. On the day of surgery, maybe because of the anesthesia, it didn’t hurt that badly. But my throat was so dry I thought I was going to lose my mind, and they kept coming in every hour to care for me. When I said my throat was too dry, thank you to the person who cheered me on and said, “Let’s hang in there just a little longer,” with me.. After drinking water and sleeping like that, from the time I was discharged, the swelling puffed up like crazy. On days 2-4, my eyes even swelled so much that I wondered what on earth was happening, and my eyelashes were poking my eyeballs. So I think I kept holding my eyes open with my hands. I was eating thin rice gruel, but my mouth wouldn’t open, so I even thought, “This is insane, should I just force my mouth wide open?” But I only thought about it and couldn’t actually do it. My mouth would not open no matter what. A week that felt like it would never pass finally went by, and as my mouth gradually started opening a little, I think I ate thin rice gruel mixed with a bit of braised kimchi broth. Right now, I’m trying desperately to do warm compresses whenever I can and wear the compression band whenever I can. But honestly, it’s vague to even say I’m doing it. I’m barely doing it. Before getting the stitches inside my mouth removed, when I smiled, maybe because the upper intraoral stitches were pulling, it hurt so freaking much that I kept holding my cheekbones down so they wouldn’t lift and smiled with my mouth in an “ooh” shape. That was so uncomfortable and painful. So at the 2-week mark, since I didn’t have time, I booked an appointment near closing time and went to get the intraoral stitches removed. After receiving facial swelling care, the nurse removed the stitches one by one, and she was honestly so kind. When I said the stitches on top hurt, she told me not to worry in advance and that she would go slowly, explaining each step as she removed them. When I asked if I was making her leave work late, she said it was okay After removing the intraoral stitches, smiling no longer hurt, and the scar tissue is healing. Now, on day 19, of course I still have swelling, and my mouth is crooked. But after looking at reviews in the community, it seems like many people go through that.. So since I’m just past 2 weeks and entering week 3, I’m waiting for now… If it doesn’t come back, then I’ll take action at that point… My mindset is basically that everything will get better with time, so I’m waiting for now. I have an appointment to see the director this Saturday, and I’m going to ask clearly then. When I reach the 1-month mark, I’ll post again with photos. Bye!!
