Three-Part Facial Contouring for a Man With a Square Face Shape

It has finally been 1 month since I got the facial contouring surgery I had wanted for such a long time! Originally, because of my square jaw + retruded chin, my face looked broad from the front, and from the side, should I say it felt like only my midface was protruding, like a fish? Especially from the front, the jaw under my ears was seriously no joke, like it had been hit by a full-on square-square beam ㅠㅠ My jaw was a place where the dream of becoming a square had come true... So while my concerns about my jaw were getting worse day by day, I eventually could not overcome my complex and went to a plastic surgery clinic. My cheekbones were not originally an area I was directly concerned about, but when I had gotten Botox a long time ago, I remembered that my cheekbones also seemed to be on the larger side, so I was prepared for it. But after seeing my bones on CT, I immediately accepted it like, 'lol I need to do the cheekbones too.' So, to change this broad, flat-looking face, I ended up starting a major construction project: cheekbone reduction + square jaw reduction (+ cortical bone) + chin advancement + masseter muscle reduction. At first, for the clinic, I went around several portal sites and plastic-surgery-related sites and looked up a lot of reviews! After narrowing it down to a few clinics with good reviews, I then went to the clinic websites and narrowed it down again by looking at information about the medical staff, facilities, location, surgery style (whether they pursue a natural look or a more dramatic look, things like that?). After visiting those shortlisted places in person for consultations, the place I ultimately chose was 345 Plastic Surgery Clinic. There were many good reviews, but when I had the consultation, they did not recommend things that did not seem absolutely necessary, and for parts that would be difficult to resolve with surgery, they clearly said they would be difficult, so I think that made me trust them more. And this is about after the surgery, but during my hospitalization, the director also visited me, told me the surgery went well, and even the day after I was discharged, they called to ask about my condition and answered my questions, so I felt even more reassured and liked that! From right after surgery until week 2, I only ate foods with no solid pieces at all, such as patient liquid meals, watery steamed egg, soft tofu, soy milk, and protein shakes. And from week 3 until now, in addition to the foods I was already eating, I have also been eating porridge, very soft bread like castella, spoonable ice cream, yogurt, cereal crushed finely and soaked a bit in milk, or noodles boiled very thoroughly and cut into small pieces. But since I am quite timid, chewing still feels a bit scary, so I am making everything as soft and finely chopped as possible and swallowing it. Honestly, I do not have a very big appetite, so eating itself has not been that hard. The problem was oral care. Since I could not brush my teeth properly, tartar built up as tartar does, and even though I gargled very often, food debris formed in my mouth to a degree that felt genuinely unfair ㅠㅠ... Maybe because I am so timid, I think I was gargling extremely gently. Now I asked the nurse and am gargling with a little more force, so it will probably be okay, right..? As for swelling, until day 3 after surgery, I had become Dooly the Baby Dinosaur, and after that it went down quickly. From around week 2 until now, it is not going down dramatically like in the beginning, but I can see it gradually decreasing! +For care, until week 2 I slept with my upper body elevated, and after that I have just been sleeping flat on my back. There are lots of different methods for swelling care, but from what I felt, the best method seems to be exercise. Light walking is the best, but these days it has either been too hot outside or raining, so since it has been a bit hard to walk around outside, I just diligently marched in place at home when watching things like Netflix! Until 2 weeks after surgery, the swelling was severe and there were stitch scars, so I minimized meeting people around me. I started meeting people from week 3, and maybe because the swelling was still a bit more severe then, I was told I looked like I had gained weight. By week 4, on the contrary, I started hearing that I seemed to have lost some weight. So far I have only met acquaintances who know I had surgery, but once the swelling goes down a bit more and I meet other acquaintances, I feel like I will generally hear that I lost weight! Now that a month has passed, there is still swelling, but a lot of the huge swelling from right after surgery has gone down, so my face shape is slowly starting to show. They say the 1-month mark is still a time when there is a lot of swelling, but even now, when I look in the mirror, I can clearly see that my face has gotten much smaller. If there is still swelling, doesn't that mean there is still plenty of room for my face to get even smaller? I am spending each day full of anticipation. More than anything, seeing that my face shape clearly looks better than before even though swelling still remains, I have no regrets at all and feel that I did well getting the surgery!
