I had never really been interested in cosmetic surgery before. I think what people around me said, like “Once you start taking an interest, it’s hard to be satisfied,” stayed with me strongly. They say everyone starts their first surgery with double eyelid surgery, and I ended up starting in a similar way too. I heard so many times that going to as many consultations as possible helps, so I went around to every clinic I could at my own discretion. The eyes I wanted were not a thin or subtle line, but a high line. They said it was even a bit higher than a semi-out line. Since I had a clear shape I wanted to change into, some people seemed troubled by it, but what I felt during my consultation with Director Yoo Gi-hyun was that he genuinely seemed curious about the look I wanted. It wasn’t just talk about estimates like what line to operate with or whether to do a canthoplasty. He honestly explained the current condition of my eyes, and things like the height and the point where the line would be created, which felt difficult to me, in an easy-to-understand way instead of using difficult cosmetic surgery terms. After going to more than five clinics, it was interesting that the director at Gift, which I visited last, gave me the longest consultation. Before surgery, I didn’t just sign the consent form in a rush and go straight into surgery. I also had one final consultation before the operation. He explained once again everything I thought I needed to know, such as the shape being created, the surgery time, and the surgical process, so I was able to get on the operating table with less anxiety, without worrying about a surrogate surgery or some surgical step being added without my knowledge. I always wanted to hear explanations. Talking about the shape after surgery is nice too, but I wanted to clearly know what I was receiving. After surgery, I had slight bruising, but it disappeared around week 2. I’m satisfied because there is almost no visible swelling now. Most of all, I like it best because the surgery was done in the shape I wanted.
