No, I just came out after a revision consultation for a bulbous nose, and they said they need to use 2 pieces of donated costal cartilage. At the first consultation hospital, I didn’t hear anything about the number, so I asked, and they said it’s decided after seeing it on the day of surgery, but that cases where several pieces of costal cartilage are layered are rare. What is this.. I searched the hospital community posts, and it seems like other people have plans similar to mine. Is that just the director’s surgical method? ???? Septal cartilage, ear cartilage, and 2 pieces of donated costal cartilage, is it really right to use all of this for the nasal tip like that..? Everyone here who had surgery with donated costal cartilage, how many pieces did you use....??????
오로나민싱 As far as I know, donated costal cartilage absorbs easily, so I heard there are cases where they layer two pieces. Even if one gets absorbed, the other one may survive..? I also heard that using septal cartilage and ear cartilage together is because of nasal tip overcorrection, but surgical methods differ by director.
트랄랄랼 [@오로나민싱] I never even thought they’d use two pieces of donated costal cartilage.. The first hospital said it’s for special cases (when it’s very crooked or the septum is too weak), so I don’t know which one is rightㅜㅜ I guess this is why you have to go to a lot of consultations.
익명 2 pieces of donated costal cartilage is a bit excessive.. Usually, a plan with one piece each of donated costal cartilage + septal cartilage in two layers, then covering it with ear cartilage on top, is common.
트랄랄랼 [@] Right..? At the first hospital, they said that considering it’s a revision, my nose condition is okay, and since it’s not a functional problem, donated costal cartilage would probably be fine rather than autologous costal cartilage, and they would preserve and use the existing septal cartilage. But at the second hospital, they said 2 pieces of donated costal cartilage (they recommend autologous costal cartilage more, but it’s my choice) + septal cartilage + covering with ear cartilage on topㅠㅠㅠ But when I looked at other posts, the plan was almost the same as mine..? So I wondered if the plan isn’t different for each nose, and if this plan itself is just the director’s methodㅜㅜ ㅜㅜㅜ
익명 [@트랄랄랼] Ah,., so it’s the director’s specific style. But I feel like two pieces would make it too thick. It already gets thicker when using costal cartilage ㅠㅠ
트랄랄랼 [@] Ah, does using costal cartilage make it a bit thicker?!!ㅠㅠ
Lalaby Hmm… I do think they use 2 pieces to secure it more firmly,, (since it’s set up as a strut, they probably place them on both sides). Usually, with autologous costal cartilage, because of warping issues too, they do place two pieces on both sides of the columella. I don’t know which is thicker between autologous costal cartilage and donated costal cartilage. At first, one side was thicker, so I was like, oh no, but over time it became okay as it settled rather than being absorbed. Instead, it’s extremely firm. I think this is a difference in surgical method.
트랄랄랼 [@Lalaby] I wrote the title wrong.... It’s donated costal cartilage!! ㅜㅜ Then for donated costal cartilage, do they often use two pieces too..?

Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 Complete removal after one month due to nasal inflammation

Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 I’m deciding between Asan and RU! Has anyone had surgery at Asan?ˀ̣
My nose had inflammation, so everything has been removed, and I think there’s still a little inflammation left. Considering that, I feel like Asan might be the right choice, but I’m so torn because I don’t know if the shape will turn out pr
Nose Re-Surgery@rhino-redoApr 29 Can contracture also occur with implant-free autologous costal cartilage?
Just as the title says…..
