Writing a Double Eyelid Surgery Review 4 Years Later Because I’m Bored

I had a bit of appearance-related mental distress throughout my school years. Right after the college entrance exam ended, I impulsively decided to get double eyelid surgery (I have ADHD...).

Thanks to my grandmother(!!!), who had said since I was young that she’d let me get double eyelid surgery when I grew up, I was able to do it without much opposition.

Two close friends had done it at the same place.

To me, one of them looked a little bulging?? You know what I mean, that sliiightly sausage-like look? (not botched, just more noticeable than I expected?) But she herself was satisfied, so I was like, well, okay.

Thinking about it now, maybe it was more like that because her skin tissue felt a bit firm...? maybe.

The other one was also really satisfied, and to me she was originally a pretty friend anyway, so I just thought, I guess she likes it. And left it at that.

Anyway, since both friends did it at the same place, I was like I’ll just go there too~ (I was in high school, so I had no thoughts. Side effects? Seriously a concept that didn’t exist in my brain) and made an appointment right away and went for a consultation.

Honestly, I didn’t even have eyes I wanted, I was just like, double eyelid surgery. I should do it. So I probably would’ve just said yes, yes,,, to whatever they said. <<< I was a damn stupid pushover

Oh but there was one thing I wanted, more than the line or anything, I wanted to do medial epicanthoplasty together.

It may not show in photos... but even now, to the point that I still want medial epicanthoplasty, the wide distance between my eyes is still stressful.

In middle school, one of my nicknames was, what was it, Dory... (the blue fish from Finding Nemo)

Anyway, so he looked at my eyes and said these eyes need ptosis correction.

He said he’d do medial epicanthoplasty together too.

Then he set the line and asked, would this be okay?

I was flustered and went, huh? yes? yes yes, like that, and the consultation almost ended in five minutes, but I barely brought up medial epicanthoplasty.

But what do you know, the doctor discouraged it??

He said these eyes are already opened, so if he removed more it would look red (honestly, at that time that was what I wanted...) and said there was no need, cutting it off firmly.

It sounds kind of funny, but I was like, oh? This doctor seems decent (for reference, it’s a one-doctor clinic), and I put down a deposit on the spot. They said there was an opening the very next day, so I decided to do it...

The surgery was done with a little sleep anesthesia (I woke up later), and in the latter half I talked with the doctor while doing it.

Open your eyes. Close them. He had me do things like that roughly.

At that time he also talked about school grades and college and stuff lol ㅠ

Anyway, I really went completely alone and got it done, and the doctor was kind, and it ended quickly, so I took a taxi home.

From the day 3 photo, I wasn’t that swollen, and when the manager saw it on the first day after surgery, she said, wow, it really didn’t swell and turned out so well.

My mom (again, grandma paid for the surgery) had experience too, so maybe that’s why she said to me, you really didn’t swell, oh my, that’s great ㅋㅎㅋㅎ

Anyway, after that, within a month it became sooo natural,

and later it settled so quickly that I wondered, didn’t the line disappear so I need revision surgery?!

Actually, I didn’t want a huge, dramatic line (I kind of regret this now ㅠ I want glamorous eyes too), so I’ve been living naturally until now.

Most people don’t know I had double eyelid surgery unless I tell them!

There are times I want something dramatic, but I’m so grateful that my first surgery (even with 25,000% recklessness added) went well without side effects.

As for my eyes, I really have no intention of touching the double eyelid line unless my eyes droop with age or something. (I do want medial epicanthoplasty,,)

Oh and originally I had ptosis where I opened my eyes using my forehead muscles, so I used to unfairly hear a lot that my impression looked strong, or if I was just zoning out, why are you glaring?

Now I hear that I have a good impression! Hooray!

Hehe honestly, while looking at nose surgery and liposuction on Instagram, my impulsive streak acted up again, so I joined a few hours ago and am writing this post,,,

I want to save money and hurry up and do little things one by one, hahaha
