28 years ago, while having rhinitis surgery, I also had correction of a hump nose and surgery to raise the nasal bridge with silicone. I liked it back then, but gradually the nasal tip seemed to contract, as if contracture had occurred, and felt like it was collapsing downward. Because my nose looked like an Avatar character with only a high bridge, I really hated taking side-profile photos and always lacked confidence. I always wanted revision surgery, but my children came first and life was busy, so I thought, “I’ll just live with it,” and couldn’t readily find the courage. Then before I knew it, I was almost 50, so I decided that even now I should cherish and love myself and live confidently and stylishly. I started orthodontic treatment and began looking into hospitals for revision rhinoplasty. While looking for a hospital for revision surgery, I saw a post on a Naver blog saying the doctor is trusted by both mothers and daughters, and it appealed to me, so I immediately booked Lowell Plastic Surgery and had a consultation with Director Kim Jae-yoon. Through the pre-consultation examination, I learned that the silicone that had gone all the way into my nasal tip was undergoing calcification. Seeing the director comfort me by saying it was fortunate it had lasted 28 years and empathize with my concerns, I immediately decided I should have revision surgery at Lowell. The silicone that had been in my nose for 28 years was removed, the hump nose was shaved down, AlloDerm was used on the nasal dorsum that had become thin because of the silicone, and the low, drooping nasal tip was beautifully projected using donated costal cartilage and ear cartilage. It hasn’t even been a month yet, so I feel like the swelling hasn’t fully gone down and it feels a little awkward to me, but everyone around me is surprised and says I’ve become so much prettier, and when they ask where I had it done, it makes me feel good. If there are people like me who feel embarrassed or hesitate about having surgery at an older age, I’m actively recommending that they do it confidently because today is the youngest day of your life^^
