I had 3 facial contouring procedures: cheekbones, square jaw, and chin tip. Since it was a private clinic, I really felt that the director paid more attention to me than the consultant did. It was my first cosmetic surgery, so I was honestly worried, but because I didn’t know much, I was able to go through with it without being too scared. The preoperative tests went smoothly, and I also fasted properly before going in. When we went over the final design, I had an even more detailed consultation than the first one with both the consultant and the director, and they told me what I should do after surgery. I think the actual surgery started around 11, and when I went into the inpatient room after it was over, it was around 3. There was no pain at all after surgery, but I had severe throat pain from the sedation anesthesia, and it was really hard not being able to drink water for about 4 hoursㅠㅠ This may vary from person to person, but in my case, the painkiller didn’t work, so I struggled with that. But everything else was fine. The consultant, the director, and even the nurse who had been in the operating room all came by, checked on my progress, and even picked up my medication for me. And above all, the nurse on duty took such good care of me, so that’s what I remember the most from the day of surgery! From the time I was allowed to drink water, I drank water and kept walking around the hospital corridor. I was in good enough condition to do that, so I didn’t stay lying down and kept walking, and I also kept drinking as much water as I could. I was able to go to the bathroom by myself, so I went back and forth on my own without any problem. It was uncomfortable both lying down and sitting, so at dawn I got exhausted and slept for about 2-3 hours, but I kept waking up and falling asleep repeatedly. On the day of discharge, before seeing the director, they removed the painkiller and IV I had been receiving. I saw the director and had my progress checked. The director personally removed the drain, did the sideburn dressing, and put on the compression band for me! (I heard there are many clinics where this isn’t the case.) On the day I was discharged, everything felt hectic, my body was tired, and I had no energy. For meals, I continued with New Care, and I took the antibiotics and medications prescribed by the clinic, used the gargle, and also took the swelling medication I had prepared on my own without missing doses. Nosebleeds and bloody sputum lasted about 2 weeks. Maybe because of the general anesthesia, breathing was a little difficult, so it was hard to exercise as much as before, but from day 3, I still tried to go out consistently and exercise, either walking or going to the gym and using the treadmill. I had follow-ups on day 4, day 8, and at 2 weeks (14 days). Every time I went, the director and the staff member who checked on me kindly explained everything from dressing to aftercare, so I’ve been taking good care of myself. It hurt a little when the intraoral stitches were removed at 2 weeks, but other than that, I don’t think there was any major discomfort after surgery. As for sensation, my lips can open much more now and my pronunciation has become clearer. The sensation around my chin is still not fully back, and my cheeks still feel slightly numb. Still, I can feel sensation coming back little by little each day!
