To be honest, I thought there was nothing more that could be done. I had already undergone revision rhinoplasty four times at other hospitals, and the result was inflammation and severe contracture. After even the silicone was removed, I was left with not only aesthetic problems but also nasal obstruction, which made daily life extremely difficult. All that time, I blamed myself a lot, thinking, “If only I hadn’t had rhinoplasty in the first place...” “Was this really such a huge desire...?” and I tried to give up several times. I found a hospital that led me to be able to have surgery again. After examining my condition, the director said surgery right away would be difficult and suggested starting with PDRN injection treatment first. Honestly, I was anxious at first, but looking back now, I think it was the wisest approach. I received PDRN treatment for nearly two months, and afterward underwent contracted-nose reconstruction. My nasal bridge and nasal tip were operated on using autologous costal cartilage, and the surgery was complex, including a skin graft. For functional nasal surgery, I also had septal deviation correction and rhinitis surgery at the same time. Before surgery, I didn’t have high expectations. I had failed four times already. But about 2 weeks later, when the splint was removed, for the first time I felt, “This time, something is truly different.” The contracture had visibly improved, and the nasal obstruction had clearly gotten better too. It has not even been a full month yet, and it will take more time for everything to settle completely, but I can feel that the results are clearly different from those at the previous hospitals. After repeated revision surgeries had left me exhausted physically and emotionally, I am truly grateful to the director for holding me steady and guiding me in a realistic direction until the end. Now, when I look in the mirror again, I feel, “This was me,” and I am gradually regaining my confidence. I really want to say this to those who are worn down by a contracted nose. With the mindset that this is truly your last chance, don’t give up, and try starting again with a doctor you can trust. Like I did.
