It's been two months, but I still don't see any sign of improvement.. It's been such a hard time that I've cried every day and didn't even come into this community, but I wondered if maybe people who had removal a long time ago might come in, and maybe I could get some information.. So I just keep coming back to this community, leaving, and clinging to it. I feel so pathetic.
First, I had rhinoplasty a year and a half ago with silicone + septal strut + ear cartilage for the nasal tip. I really had no bridge at all, and it wasn't quite a bulbous nose, but it had a little flesh? It was just a low nose. People around me told me countless times, "You'd become really pretty if you just did your nose," and "You need to do your nose." I don't know what possessed me because of those words. I didn't even realize my original eyes, nose, and mouth were pretty in harmony, and I thought, "If I just fix my nose, I'll be really pretty!" So I went for consultations and had surgery.. The consultation manager told me that because I was young, my recovery would be fast, that I had plenty of time for it to settle, it would become more natural over time, and no one would know I had surgery.. I was out of my mind, and I didn't even properly research the hospital.. I resented and really hated all the countless people who told me to get nose surgery, but then I realized how ridiculous I was. No matter what others said, it was my choice and I was the one who had the surgery.. It's my fault..
First of all, I was dissatisfied with the result. I don't know if they tied the cartilage too tightly, but it looked divided into three parts: nostril wing, nasal tip, nostril wing. My columella, which was originally a normal length, became longer, and the nasal tip was really high. Also, the cartilage was slightly protruding. For two months after surgery, I shut myself in at home, cried every day, and made a huge fuss saying I would remove it. My mom sighed when she saw me and was upset with me too.. My family isn't even that wealthy, but that huge amount of money.. It was so hard I couldn't even eat and became like a wreck. I called the hospital where I had it done and asked them to remove it, but they said they couldn't, and if I wanted it done I had to pay. When I said the cartilage was protruding, they stubbornly insisted it was swelling. I even went to an ENT clinic for an exam, and several doctors gave opinions that it did seem like the cartilage was protruding, but they said, "Who is the doctor who operated on you? It's me, so trust what I say. It's swelling." In the end, after a few months, it turned out the cartilage really was protruding. I was tired of raising my voice and fighting with that hospital again, and didn't even want to deal with them, so I just stayed quiet.
I stayed stuck at home like that and couldn't even go outside, but work couldn't be postponed, so as I worked and stayed busy with various things, a year and a half passed before I had removal.. Of course, during that time the swelling went down a lot and it became much more natural. The slight cartilage protrusion next to my nose just made people think my nose was originally shaped that way. Since I originally barely had a nasal bridge, the silicone wasn't obvious. I also sometimes heard that my nose was pretty.. But as time went on, the protruding cartilage area started to stick out more and more, and in places with light, the silicone started to show through too.. In photos, it was really obvious. And more than anything, because of the columella that had been hard since the early stage after surgery, I kept putting it off and finally had removal this July. Of course, at another hospital. Just hearing the name of that hospital makes me shudder, seriously..
After removal, first of all, I felt so relieved and like I could fly. To the point where I wondered, "Was my nose this light?" I realized that a nose with silicone in it feels heavy.. When I tilted my head forward or looked down, my nose felt heavy and pulled downward, but that feeling disappeared immediately after removal too. They had rasped down my nasal bridge. I didn't even originally have a hump nose.. The surgeon said they hadn't shaved it, but apparently it had been shaved. The doctor who removed it said that when inserting silicone, they usually refine it a little. But they said my original bone seemed like bone that didn't need to be shaved, and when I heard that I got so angry.. sigh.
First, the biggest thing was psychological stability. There are people who live their whole lives without side effects, but as you age, it will definitely sag due to gravity, and the skin gets thinner, so the silicone will inevitably become noticeable. If it becomes noticeable, you have to replace the implant again, and if side effects occur, contracture can happen. When you're older and your skin is all sagging, if only the nose is standing sharply upright, I don't think anything could look stranger.
But the mental stability was only right after removal.. The next hurdle was waiting for me. They clearly said they removed the septal strut and everything inside.. The bridge returned quickly, but the nasal tip was still high. So high that I was really shocked.. The doctor said it was swelling and that it would come down. Now at two months, the nasal tip has gone down a lot, but it's still high.. I don't know if the columella and nasal tip cartilage have already adhered to each other, but it's still hard and doesn't moveㅠㅠ Maybe because of contraction, the nostrils show more too. The columella sticks out, and as the scars inside the nose heal, the nose lifts up, so the nostrils are clearly visible.. I'm really going crazy. Looking at reviews from others who had removal, this period seems to be a hard time, but from immediately after removal, the nasal tip and columella shape are the same as when it was surgically done, so I feel like I'm going crazy.. The nostrils are still long too. The only differences right after removal are that the bridge returned as it was and that the nose is at least a little softer than when it was surgically done. It's still in the healing phase, so it's becoming hard again.
As for the open incision scar, I had both the original surgery and removal done open, so the scarring is no joke. I diligently apply regenerative cream every day, but I think I'll need scar laser treatment or something.. The open incision scar stresses me out tooㅠㅠ.. What if this never goes away for the rest of my life?
What I want to say to people planning removal is.. you also need to be careful with removal. In the beginning, I was so miserable that I regretted removing it. But if I had had revision surgery or left it as it was, I think I would have lived my whole life thinking about removal.
I'm also struggling enough to feel like dying right now, but what the kind people who always leave comments for me say is that removal is also a kind of surgery, so you have to wait.. And what you should be prepared for is that, literally, you become less pretty. Maybe it's also because something was there and now it's gone, starting with the nostrils.. My self-esteem has really hit rock bottom. Like in the early days after surgery, I can't even leave the house, and I feel like I'm going to develop depression. Even though I know I have to wait, I feel like I'm going crazy. Everyone who is about to have removal, and everyone who has had removal.. I hope you all stay strong. And I hope I can stay strong too..... I even have bad thoughts...... Thank you for reading this long post.
