I decided to have surgery because I had long been dissatisfied with my side profile. From the front, I looked pretty average, but from the side my chin receded a lot, so my face looked short and people often said my expression seemed dull. Even in photos, my chin line always came out awkwardly, which bothered me all the time. At first I considered fillers, but I hesitated after hearing that the results don’t last long and could end up looking obvious. In the end, I chose chin advancement surgery because it seemed like a more natural and definite way to change things. Recovery was better than I expected. At first there was swelling and reduced sensation, but because I managed it well as the hospital instructed, daily life was not very uncomfortable after about 2 to 3 weeks. By around one month, the swelling had gone down a lot, and now my jawline has settled in stably and looks just right. Most of the sensation around my mouth has also returned. I have no trouble eating or speaking at all. Individual differences may exist, but I think I recovered fairly quickly. Most of all, my appearance changed a lot. Especially since my side profile is more organized, my impression looks much clearer, and I hear often that having a jawline improved the balance of my whole face. Before, I paid a lot of attention to angles when taking photos, but these days I’m happy because even random shots come out satisfying. At first it felt awkward, like it wasn’t my face, but now this looks more natural and I actually like it better. Overall, I’m really satisfied with the surgery. Of course, chin advancement surgery is not a procedure without burden, but I recovered well without any major side effects, and the change is definite, so even now I think I made the right choice. Most of all, just not hearing that I look weak like before has cut my stress way down, so even that alone made it a very satisfying surgery.
