To say the most important thing first, the hardest part after surgery is not even being able to put a cigarette in your mouth. I think that’s it lol The reason I had surgery was that my face had a lot of angles. Starting with my pointy cheekbones, then square jaw and chin, there wasn’t a single smooth area. To fix this, I tried gua sha, and since contouring was the issue, I got contouring injections, but I got one with steroids and had severe side effects, so I quit everything and went straight to surgery. Cheekbones, square jaw, chin, without leaving anything out, I wanted to fix everything, so even before going to consultations, I wanted three-part facial contouring. I wanted an overall slim and smooth facial shape. I just wanted the angles on my face to disappear a bit. I’m not handsome at all, but.. Honestly, I wanted the face shape of idols these days lol After surgery, it was seriously hell. Who said facial contouring surgery is bearable..? Let me be clear, it really hurts. It was pain I’d never felt in my life, and tears and saliva just kept flowing. But the one fortunate thing is that this pain didn’t last long for me. It hurt intensely for one day, and from the next day it seemed bearable. Whether it was because I took medicine, or my bones somehow healed well in a day.. I don’t know the principle, but from the next day I was okay, so after staying hospitalized for one day, I was discharged, and my mom said I looked better than she expected.. Because I didn’t want her to worry for nothing, I said, “Yeah, it doesn’t hurt that much,” but the day before, I’d almost died.. lol The good thing about having a caregiver at home is that your face feels heavy from swelling, and because of your swollen face you don’t want to do anything, but having someone help you not starve makes it livable. There’s also the struggle of not being able to eat properly, but in my case, since I’m a heavy smoker, quitting smoking was seriously the hardest. One cigarette was much harder to resist than finishing a whole bowl of rice..lol I wanted to at least chew nicotine gum, but that wasn’t allowed either. Sigh.. Anyway, at one week I had the sideburn stitches removed, and I think it was week 3 when the intraoral stitches were removed. Taking walks in between seemed to make the swelling go down quickly. And after about two months, I wondered, is there still minor swelling left? But by month 3, it looked complete to the point that even the residual swelling seemed gone. From then on, it’s totally possible to live pretending this is just my face lol If you endure the intense one-day pain and focus on recovery for the rest, it also seems like a fairly doable surgery.. lol ( **Still, I hope you decide on surgery carefully)
