Resolved My Protruding Chin Complex with Double-Jaw Surgery at EU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!

Ever since I was young, whenever I went to the dentist, I often heard that I was a case that needed double-jaw surgery^^.. Even from the outside, my protruding chin and asymmetry were so,, severe that I had thought about double-jaw surgery for a long time, but I was scared and kept putting it off until I finally did it!! Originally, my snaggletooth was severe too, so I only had orthodontic treatment in a direction that avoided double-jaw surgery, but once the snaggletooth came down, my jaw bothered me so much. During the orthodontic process, I asked the dental director whether I could have double-jaw surgery, and they recommended EU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, saying they were good. The dental hospital also connected me with them, so I trusted them a lot, and the reviews were all decent, so I chose EU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery right away. Day 1 First, as soon as I woke up, I was so thirsty and didn’t have any pain. Even after 4 hours passed and I drank water, I was still very thirsty, and maybe because it was dry, my throat stung. Honestly, more than painful suffering, the difficulty of not being able to breathe ㅠㅠ was greater. Day 2 - Day 3 After removing the urinary catheter and nasal hose, I felt somewhat alive again..? But after that, my nose was so blocked and I couldn’t properly sleep lying down… I think I woke up almost every 20 minutes. I was eating New Care with a syringe, but it took forever, so I put it in a paper cup and drank it, and it went down well, so after that I gulped it down haha. I walked around the hospital hallway a bit, and one night my nose was so blocked and I felt so stuffy that I almost called the nurse, but I remember just sleeping ㅠㅠ The nasal congestion was so, so, so hard. Day 3 - Day 4 The worst swelling ever and yellow bruising down below my neck… After discharge, I came home, showered right away, and removed all the compression tape too (the adhesive is harder to remove than expected). I rested at home, but.. days 3 and 4 were the hardest. I sometimes went out for walks, but I had no stamina, so I was gasping for breath, and even at home my nose was blocked so I couldn’t sleep properlyㅠㅠ I was endlessly in the pain of not being able to breathe, a time hell, wondering when time would pass… Runny nose + nosebleeds kept coming too, so I used tons of tissues. I had no appetite, so I couldn’t eat things like porridge, but to survive, I did make sure to drink New Care regularly. Day 5 - Day 7 This was when my nose started opening up!!! I felt truly grateful that I could breathe through my nose. Still, there was runny nose(?) sitting in the back, so if I bent down even briefly, it immediately blocked again. But on day 7, strangely, it opened wide and I really felt alive again haha. On day 7, I went to my first outpatient visit, and since I live in the provinces, I felt like my stamina for going back and forth to the hospital had decreased a lotㅠㅠ Week 2~Week 3 Until week 1, it was so, so, so hard, but this was when I started thinking, now it’s a bit manageable~. When I went for night walks, my nose would always get blocked, but now I could walk comfortably. My mouth swelling was still very puffy, so when I smiled it looked unnatural, and I kept doing mouth exercises (my mouth didn’t open well, about two fingers). 1 Month I went to the one-month outpatient visit, and they said I could eat soft noodles and rice, so I ate food diligently. To be honest, I had already been cutting these foods with scissors and eating them well before then though. If I ate something salty or spicy, it felt like swelling immediately increased?? It felt like the mouth swelling got firmer. My stamina was gradually getting better around this time. Daily life outside was okay, and even after driving for a long time, I was okay. After a month, a lot of the swelling went down, but it still feels puffy. I’m waiting for it to go down quickly. 2 Months The swelling is still puffy, but until the one-month mark I always wore a mask, and these days I go around fine without a mask. Opening my mouth is still a little difficult, but I can wrap and eat ssam well, and hamburgers are a little tough but I’m eating them well. Maybe because my occlusion still doesn’t match, I’m chewing rice on one side:) (I’m adjusting it with post-surgery orthodontics haha) Unless it’s something really hard, eating is no problem, and daily life is no problem either, so I’m just waiting for the day more swelling goes down. Even though all the swelling hasn’t gone down yet, these days I’m already looking forward to the surgical progress! Thank you, Director Shin Hee-jin at EU Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery!
