So I had only been considering nostril reduction, but since my boyfriend and I are now preparing for marriage, I wanted to look prettier before the wedding, and that made me decide to go ahead with the nostril reduction I had been thinking about. * Reason for choosing the clinic My concerns were large nostrils + a dull, rough-looking nose shape. While looking for clinics here and there, I wanted one that would be natural even if it was expensive, with no side effects and no obvious surgical look. So in the end, I chose a clinic called Unimedi. When I told the clinic about my concerns over my nose shape and also that I was worried about not being able to breathe after nostril reduction, they explained several ways to improve the nose shape and I decided to go with the method they recommended. They told me clearly that the side effect of not being able to breathe would absolutely not happen, which made me trust them. The director was firm and conservative, so he would say no when something could not be done, but he said breathing would absolutely not be a problem. So I went ahead with the surgery~ * Review of the day of surgery This is my review from the day of surgery. I wrote it right after coming home on the day of the operation, so please understand the casual tone haha - After being guided, I changed into a gown. I brought my phone and glasses with me. - They told me to wash my face. They showed me mouthwash too, and although they did not make me use it, I used that as well. - I heard the pre-op instructions at the front desk. - I had another consultation with the coordinator before surgery - Asked whether breathing would become uncomfortable => They said that would not happen. They said nobody had experienced that and they absolutely do not overcorrect like that. - I had a pre-op consultation with the doctor - Would breathing become uncomfortable? => Yes, that will not happen. - Actually, after the consultation, I had sent the coordinator photos by KakaoTalk showing the nose shape I wanted. But the doctor said that because my own nose is asymmetrical, they could not make it exactly the same. He said it was a completely different nose... Still, he said he understood what shape I wanted. - Consultation again with the coordinator - I received explanations while signing a huge number of surgical consent forms - I liked that the consent form said this clinic absolutely does not overcorrect. - I went out to the front desk and paid. - They told me to put my glasses and phone in the locker now. While I was sitting in a chair, they told me to come to the operating room. - Pre-op stage - The nurse told me to lie down on the bed - The operating room was spacious and had really good natural light. They had a radio on, so I could hear songs too, and it felt a little calming. But I was extremely nervous. - After I lay down, they attached the blood pressure monitor to my right arm and put an IV in my left arm. When I asked what was in the IV, they said it was painkiller + anti-swelling medication + antibiotics - They gave me an injection in my left arm to check for anesthesia allergy. It stung a little more than I expected. I thought, ah, is this what anesthesia feels like? (The nose hurts way more than this.) - They trimmed my nose hair and disinfected me too. While they were trimming the nose hair, I was wondering how am I supposed to breathe? I was afraid I might inhale the nose hair while breathing haha At first I held my breath, then later I just breathed normally. I do not think any nose hair went into my nose. - The beginning of surgery - The doctor came in. - He sat above my head, touched my nose, and then suddenly gave me an injection without saying anything. Ah, is this the anesthesia injection? - I thought it would end after three or four shots, but I think they gave almost 5 to 6 shots on just one side of the nostril. They also injected the columella area, so I think I got around 15 shots in total. - Ah, it hurt and felt uncomfortable more than I expected. A bubbling, drug-going-in feeling + a stinging feeling. So I kept going ugh ugh, and they said it would hurt less if I did not make noise. - After the anesthesia was done, they said, You did a great job~ Now it will not hurt anymore. - My eyes got a little teary and I thought, okay, now I can relax a little. - They wiped my nose and whole face with disinfectant, put gauze over my lips, and then covered even my eyes with a green cloth - Main surgery begins - Since my nose was now numb in a way that made it feel like it was no longer my nose, it felt a little strange - I could feel the doctor touching and stitching my nose in all sorts of ways, but I could not really tell whether he was cutting it with a knife or doing what exactly. I did not feel much at all. - He reduced the right nostril first and showed me in a mirror. My eyesight is poor so I could not see well, and when I squinted, I could clearly see it had gotten smaller, so I was like, oooh, it looks good, thank you haha Honestly, I wanted to put on my glasses and look more closely too... haha - He covered my face with a cloth and then I heard the sound of a camera taking pictures. Maybe they were recording before-and-after photos of the nose surgery? I wanted to see the photos too. - Then they worked on the left side, but on the left side the anesthesia seemed to be not fully working? From time to time I felt uncomfortable and said it felt painful, and each time they gave me more anesthesia. - During the consultation, the doctor had seemed very chic and a little blunt, so I was scared, but during surgery he was like, It will not hurt now~ You did well~ Are you in pain? Just a moment~ so he was kind of sweet haha - Whenever I heard the suction sound in between, I inferred, Ah, there is bleeding now. That is how I got through the surgery haha - And after touching and adjusting my nose for what felt like about 20 minutes, the surgery ended. - Since the radio was on in the operating room, the time passed well and I think I was able to have the surgery with a calmer mind. It made me think again how amazing surgeons are. - The doctor stood up and said, The surgery is over~ You worked hard. Check it in the mirror, and I said, Thank you~~ haha - After surgery - The nurse removed the IV and cleaned up afterward - They told me to stand up slowly, but I felt slightly nauseous. I think it was because the tension had eased. - They told me to change clothes, so I went into the changing room and immediately turned on my phone and took a photo. It was so amazing to see the change right away. And I liked it. hehe Although the nostril size did not change that much, I was a little disappointed, but since I had not had a big surgery like raising the bridge, I had already understood the limitations to some extent, so it was fine. - On the way home - My boyfriend did not answer the phone, so I sat in the lounge and waited a bit. Since I had relaxed from the tension, I felt a little dizzy and was scared to go home alone, so I thought it was really fortunate that my boyfriend came with me. - At the pharmacy, when I bought medicine, the pharmacist joked that it was just a simple procedure, saying it was not even surgery, which made me laugh. - We were both hungry, so we went to a Hamhung naengmyeon restaurant and ate naengmyeon. I was so, so hungry, but the numbness in my nose, philtrum, and front teeth had not worn off yet, so I could not eat much It was delicious. hehe - On the way home, it was almost 5 o'clock, so it was rush hour and there were really a lot of people. Luckily, Sinsa Station is the starting station of the Shinbundang Line, so I could sit and ride. - I suddenly got sleepy on the subway. Maybe because the tension had eased. And maybe the anesthesia was starting to wear off, because it was stinging. - I kept looking in the mirror on the way home and after I got home too haha but I really like it * Review up to stitch removal The surgical area kept itching, and because my skin is oily, the skin did not stick together well So instead of removing the stitches after one week as usual, I waited for almost over two weeks before getting them removed. The shape right after surgery looked pinched into a triangle during the first week. So at first I kept thinking it looked awkward. And because of the swelling, my nose was very swollen, and the nostrils were swollen too, so they looked smaller. * One month later review For about a month after surgery, the surgical area was a bit itchy and had red scarring, so I applied scar ointment carefully. The shape became much more natural than before.!! But since it was still only one month, there was still swelling Still, the swelling had gone down compared to before, so it became much more natural. Because the dull nose shape and nostril size I had before surgery improved, I felt good every time I looked in the mirror The more I looked at it, the more it seemed like my original nose shape, so when I looked at old photos I was startled.
